Originally known as Tian Bing (Tian Bin), Yao Chao was born in Anxin, Hebei Province, and 1944 was born in Beijing. Member of China Calligraphers Association, national first-class artist, top 100 calligraphers in China in 2004, expert member of UNESCO, consultant of Ningxia Calligraphers Association (third and fourth vice-chairmen). He used to be the chairman of Yinchuan Calligraphy Association and the president of Yinchuan Painting and Calligraphy Institute 10. Now he is honorary chairman of Yinchuan Calligraphy Association, honorary president of Yinchuan Painting and Calligraphy Institute and artistic consultant of Ningxia Painting and Calligraphy Institute.
