There is a local legend about the origin of Lion Building: during the Song Renzong period (A.D. 1023), yanggu county had a prosperous population, businesses and many shops, and there was a Chinese medicine shop at the corner of the west street of Yanggu. The owner's name is Zhao Runchun, and he has no children. There is only one woman named Xiugu. Father and daughter run a drugstore, and the children's business is smooth sailing. Ximen Qing, a local bully, took a fancy to Xiugu's beauty, sent someone to kill Zhao Runsheng and occupied the drugstore and Xiugu. On their wedding night, Xiugu got Ximen Qing drunk to avenge her father, locked her house, set fire to it, and then committed suicide. But Ximen Qing was not burned to death, and the Yuanyang Pavilion in Xiyuan was reduced to ashes. Ximen Qing followed the advice of Mr. Feng Shui and built the Lion Building. There is a pair of stone lions with red eyes, temples and grinning in front of the building. Later, Song Wu avenged his brother and killed Ximen Qing here, making Lion Building famous all over the world. Six kilometers northeast of Yanggu County, there are two villages called "Ecstasy", the one in the south is called "Great Ecstasy" and the one in the north is called "Little Ecstasy". The village of "big wedding array" is small, and the village of "small wedding array" is big. After entering the village, outsiders will feel that along the narrow streets of the village, the direction is changing at any time, and they can't tell the difference between east and west, north and south, and even have an illusion in time and space. Going out of the village is harder than going to heaven. A local folk song sings: "When you are in a maze, the champion is hard to recognize;" Hutongs are everywhere in the east, west, north and south; It seems that the old road has turned black. "

The small maze of village houses consists of two parts, the eastern part is called the "front maze" and the western part is called the "back maze". But when outsiders enter the "front maze", they will feel that the "back maze" is in the north; Strangely, when people enter the "back maze", they will think that the "front maze" is in the north. It is always difficult to grasp the direction of progress when entering the village and walking around the streets. After a long walk, I returned to my old place. Here, if the time is calculated by the sun according to the habit, there will be an error of several hours. It's less than 10 o'clock in the morning in "Once Ecstasy", and you will think it's noon 12 o'clock; In "post-ecstasy", at noon 12, you will feel like 4 pm.

How can the "ecstasy" village be "fascinated"? This is due to the traditional house layout. It turns out that the overall layout of the village is not flat, but crescent-shaped. The two main streets are curved from northeast to southwest, oblique and curved, with no fixed direction. The alley is a mess, there is no straight alley. The intersection of streets and lanes is mostly in the shape of "D". The latitude is uneven from beginning to end, and the house is built along the street. Because the change is not obvious, it is easy to treat all houses with different orientations as north houses, causing all chaos. Strangely, for hundreds of years, dozens of generations and families have built houses according to the rules left by their predecessors, and no one in the village has ever made any new regulations on this.

According to legend, during the Warring States Period, the State of Qi was at war with the State of Wei, where Sun Bin, a strategist of the State of Qi, once set a "maze" to defeat Pang Juan, a general of the State of Wei. The street pattern in the village was built by imitating the fighting at that time. There is still a Sun Bin Temple in the village.
