Frog sounds ten miles out of the mountain spring by Qi Baishi.
"Frogs Out of the Mountain Spring in Ten Miles" is an ink painting painted by modern painter Qi Baishi for Lao She in 1951. Later, it was included in the Complete Works of Qi Baishi, which is one of his representative works. Now it is collected in China Museum of Modern Literature.
Qi Baishi (January 1, 1864—September 16, 1957), whose original name was Chun Zhi, whose name was Wei Qing, whose name was Lanting, later renamed Huang, whose name was Lin Sheng, whose name was Baishi, Baishishan Weng, Laoping, Hunger Sou, owner of borrowing mountains to sing songs, an old man in Jiping Hall, and a rich man with three hundred lithographs, was originally from Anhui.
I worked as a carpenter in my early years, then made a living by selling paintings, and settled in Beijing at the age of 57. He used to be honorary professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts and chairman of China Artists Association. In 1953, he was awarded the title of People's Artist by the Ministry of Culture, and was also selected as a world cultural celebrity. In 1956, he was awarded the International Peace Prize by the World Peace Council. In 1957, he served as honorary president of Beijing China Painting Academy, and died in Beijing Hospital in the same year.
Qi Baishi is good at painting flowers and birds, insects and fish, landscapes and figures. His brush and ink are vigorous and moist, with rich and bright colors, concise and vivid shapes and simple artistic conception. The fish, shrimp, worms and crabs are full of fun. His calligrapher sealed the official seal, taking the method from the tablets of Qin and Han Dynasties, and his calligraphy spared Gu Zhuo's interest. Seal cutting is unique and good at writing poems. His representative works include Frog Rang Ten Miles Out of the Mountain Spring and Ink Shrimp. He is the author of "White Stone Poetry" and "White Stone Old Man's Self-report".
