Teachers in this subject have published 10 monographs and dozens of papers, presided over 2 national-level projects, 6 provincial-level projects, and won 1 provincial-level award.
The characteristics and advantages of this discipline focus on two aspects:
1. Exploring the origin of words has obvious research advantages. Professor Ren Jifang, the academic leader in this subject, has devoted himself to the study of etymology for more than 20 years and has achieved commendable research results.
Professor Ren Jifang studied under the famous etymologist Mr. Jiang Lihong in the late 1980s, focusing on Chinese vocabulary history and etymology. He has published more than 20 academic papers on etymology so far. The most representative result is published in Papers ""Hutong": A new perspective on genealogical relations", "Chinese Language", "Literature", "Dictionary Research" and other well-known publications, "Wang Niansun's "Shi Ming" Collation", ""Fuxi" Origin Research" were published in The articles in Guangming Daily include "Chinese Studies", "Talk about "Wen" and "Words"", "Talk about "Poetry"". Undertaken the national social science project: Research on the origin of "harmony" culture. The published monograph "Chinese Etymology" won the third prize in the Provincial Outstanding Social Science Achievements category. Book reviews have been published in various publications such as "Ancient Chinese Studies" and have been widely used by academic colleagues. Professor Ren Jifang's research has provided valuable materials on the origin of words, revealed the laws of the development and evolution of Chinese vocabulary, corrected errors in dictionaries, and contributed to the improvement of the quality of dictionary writing, the enrichment of vocabulary theory, and the standardization of language and writing. Its academic expertise is of great significance, its achievements are remarkable, and its advantages are obvious.
2. Integrating dialect phonology and distinctive research characteristics. Professor Liu Qingsong in this subject has devoted himself to the study of ancient phonetics in the Ming Dynasty for many years. He has published "A Preliminary Exploration of Yang Shen's Ancient Phonetic Thoughts" and "Micrographs of Ancient Phonetic Thoughts in the Late Ming Dynasty" in core publications such as "Ancient Chinese Studies" and "Language Research". ” and many other academic papers. He also presided over the national social science project: Research on Language Communication Issues of the Three Gorges Immigrants, and put forward constructive suggestions for the formulation and implementation of national immigration policies. Associate Professor Li Xinghui in this subject focuses on the impact of contact between the Han dialect in southern Hunan and the Mian language of the Yao ethnic group in southern Hunan. He has conducted comprehensive and in-depth research on the Yao language in southern Hunan. He has shown strong strength in the study of contact between Chinese and ethnic minorities and occupies an important academic position. He published a paper titled "The Phonological System of Yongzhou Lanjiaoshan Dialect" in Dialects, which also received positive recognition from the dialect academic community. The research of Professor Liu Qingsong and Associate Professor Li Xinghui reflects one of the characteristics of this discipline: the mutual penetration and mutual promotion of phonology and dialect. Phonology studies the phonetic system of ancient Chinese and pays attention to the historical situation of Chinese pronunciation; Dialectology studies the language use of modern Chinese and shows the reality of Chinese pronunciation. Close integration can deeply trace the history of dialects and grasp the laws of the evolution of Chinese pronunciation. Such research features are both distinctive and outstanding, and also have huge potential.
(5) Comparative Literature and World Literature
The master’s degree program in Comparative Literature and World Literature is one of the second-level master’s programs in Chinese language and literature. There are currently 3 professors, 2 associate professors and 1 lecturer; 5 of them have doctoral degrees and 2 have overseas academic experience. This master's degree program currently has three main research directions, namely European and American literature, comparative literature and comparative poetics; adhering to the strategic creed of the School of Liberal Arts to strive to be first-class in being "competent and distinctive", in each research direction, The team in this discipline has captured the new academic space through a strong awareness of issues and formed its own distinctive characteristics and unique advantages.
1. Research on modern Western literary trends in the direction of European and American literature. Professor Zeng Fanting, a leader in the direction of European and American literature, is a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge. In his early years, he published four monographs, including "The Saint in Purgatory - A Biography of Dostoevsky" and "The Lonely Lion - A Biography of Hemingway", and translated the book "The Rich Family". "Resentment" and "Magic Wand" (co-translation), 1 series of edited books (10 types) and 8 other professional works. Based on the following strong awareness of the problem - after the historical process of modernization started, it is an indisputable fact that the development of Western literature, which has accelerated significantly compared with before, has increasingly taken the form of progressive ideological trends; and the study of Western literary theory in domestic academic circles and the Western The two lines of literary research have been in a state of rupture for a long time. The lack of research on ideological trends, which is the joint between the study of writers' works and the study of literary theory and poetics, is an important reason for this rupture. Professor Zeng Fanting's academic focus has turned to the study of modern Western literary trends. research.
He has published more than 10 papers in authoritative journals such as "Literary Studies" and "Foreign Literature Review", as well as the final result of the National Social Science Fund project "Research on Literary Naturalism" that received an "excellent" conclusion in 2008 ( Winning the second prize of the Hunan Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievements Award) are all manifestations of this shift. After the latter was published, it caused great repercussions in the academic circle with its new interpretation of the system of naturalistic literary thought, and was highly praised by important newspapers such as "Literary News".
2. Research on the construction of modern Chinese literary theory in the direction of comparative poetics as the west wind spreads eastward. Professor Ouyang Wenfeng, a leader in the field of comparative poetry, was selected into the Ministry of Education’s New Century Talent Support Program, the Hunan Province New Century 121 Talent Project, and the Central South University Humanities and Social Sciences Outstanding Young Talents Special Funding Program. He has published 3 monographs, published more than 70 academic papers in authoritative journals such as "Literary Review" and "Literary Heritage", hosted 1 national social science fund project, and completed many provincial social science fund projects. In recent years, the upsurge in comparative studies of Chinese and Western poetics has been in the ascendant, but most of them remain in the bubble state of conceptual renovation, and there are many "empty wars". Professor Ouyang Wenfeng tries to avoid jumping into the air, and is based on Western impressionism's analysis of Li Jianwu's poetics. Based on a series of achievements such as the elucidation of the construction of Chinese literary theory by Wang Guowei and Zong Bai based on Western aesthetics of life, with a down-to-earth but sharp academic personality, he conducted a pioneering work on the construction and evolution of modern Chinese literary theory during the spread of the West to the East. The research has attracted widespread attention in the academic community; this series of results won the third prize of the Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award.
3. Research on the ecology of contemporary Chinese literature in the context of globalization in the direction of comparative literature. The leader of the Comparative Literature direction is Professor Nie Mao, a doctorate returned from overseas. From "The Tension of National Fables" which uses Western discourse to provide a "restorative" interpretation of Chinese literature in the new era, to works such as "Russian Heart Lamp" which provides a "spiritual" interpretation of the works of Western classic writers based on Chinese cultural realities, focusing on globalization Exploring the changes in contemporary Chinese culture and literature in context and responding to such changes in the interpretation of Western literature have always been the outstanding features of Professor Nie Mao's comparative literature research. In addition to a large number of academic achievements that directly hit the scene of contemporary literature, he has also directly devoted himself to creative practice-so far he has published many novels, essay collections, poetry collections, etc., and has won the first prize of the World Chinese Literature Grand Prix, Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao There are more than 40 awards including first prize for the Newcomer Award for Novel and the Prose Award for the 45th Anniversary of the People's Literature. (1) Cross-cultural Communication
