Mr. Qi Gong is a famous painter, cultural relic appraiser, redologist and master of Chinese studies. He is mainly engaged in the teaching and research of China literature history, China art history, China prose in past dynasties, poetry anthology in past dynasties and Tang and Song Ci.
A discussion: there is some ambiguity in the identification of calligraphy and painting. Mr. Qi pointed out the disadvantages of calligraphy and painting appraisal, and put forward his own views on the limitations and ideas of appraisal. Point out that everyone has his limitations. Due to the limitation of academic level, thinking method, subjective preference and external influence, appraisers can't fully understand and their opinions can't always be correct. Objectively, there will be many problems that we cannot understand at present. Therefore, modesty and prudence, knowing everything, and admitting that the appraisal work has its limitations and some fuzziness should be the only scientific attitude to do the appraisal work. Mr. Qi also put forward the idea of attaching importance to the development of modern science and using modern science and technology to make up for the lack of human ability.
The second discussion: identification is not only the identification of authenticity. There are many complicated situations in calligraphy and painting handed down from ancient times, and both ends of the original can include concerts. For example, copying ancient Chinese characters, copying ancient paintings, adding fake money to ancient paintings without money, matching true and false, ghostwriting, and direct counterfeiting. Some of them can't be covered by two words: true and false. We should analyze and understand them carefully, dare to be self-righteous and admit that we don't understand them realistically, instead of pretending to be correct and pretending to be authoritative. He cited the example of his predecessors and said that anyone who is willing to say or dare to say that he is unclear, ignorant and needs to be studied must be a real expert.
Three theories: there are secular feelings in the appraisal. In addition to the mistakes caused by the appraiser's level, the appraisal of calligraphy and painting may also lead to the unfair conclusion of "bending the heart" because of various social resistances. He summed up eight things according to the true story he knew: 1. Imperial power; 2. Hold high; 3. long-term; 4. Protection against short circuit; 5. Respect people with high morality; 6. Far-reaching harm; 7. get carried away; 8. Be tolerant of others. Analyze the reasons one by one and give examples. Finally, it is suggested that we should be open-minded and tolerant of the public. I want to use this language to encourage my colleagues.
This article by Mr. Qi Gong not only discusses the principles and methods of appraisal work, but also emphasizes the appraiser's own professional and quality cultivation, and advocates calm mind, modesty and prudence, seeking truth from facts and correctly understanding himself. In some parts of the article, he analyzed himself as an example and argued peacefully and seriously. Although his topic is calligraphy and painting appraisal, it can also be used for reference for other kinds of appraisal work. Article source network
