The story of Lin Zexu

1, Lin Zexu's story-Humen put out opium

Lin Zexu sent people to dig two large ponds 50 feet wide at the height of Humentan, and the walls of the ponds were connected with the sea by culverts. On June 3, Lin Zexu led Guangdong officials to supervise the destruction of confiscated opium.

Boxes of opium were thrown into a big pool filled with seawater, and then Shanghai salt and quicklime were poured in. Suddenly, the pool boiled, smoke billowed and opium was reduced to ashes. Thousands of onlookers cheered like spring thunder. One batch is burned, washed and put into another batch. In this way, the opium destruction in Humen lasted for 23 days.

2. Lin Zexu's story-Tai Chi Taro

In the 19th year of Daoguang reign (A.D. 1839), when Lin Zexu went to Guangzhou as an imperial envoy to ban smoking, the consuls of Britain, Germany, the United States and China specially prepared western-style mats to "entertain" Lin Zexu in an attempt to embarrass him while eating ice cream. Afterwards, Lin Zexu also hosted a banquet to "thank" these consuls.

After a few cold dishes, a plate of dark gray shiny, dark brown smooth, like two fish lying on it, not steamed, like a cold dish.

A foreign consul picked up a spoon and scooped a spoonful. As soon as it was delivered to my mouth, my eyes were too hot to spit out. There was another "cheep", and I saw a red "lace" burning on the lips of another consul, which scared other guests. At this time, Lin Zexu casually stood up and introduced: "This is a famous dish in Fujian, China, called Taiji taro." Since then, the name of this dish has had a far-reaching impact.

3. Lin Zexu's Story-Rain Event

Lin Yuhua, whose real name is Xiwu, is the same clan elder of Lin Zexu and the backbone of the Truth Society founded by Lin Binri. He is decent and fearless of power.

He exposed the corruption of Qian Shichun, then Fujian provincial judge, and was retaliated by Qian Shichun on charges of Luo Zhi. Lin Yuhua refused to plead guilty, and Qian Shichun forced LinYu to turn his father into a pawn. As a result, LinYu was imprisoned for seven months and sent to Xinjiang. He was tortured on the road and was not released to his hometown until he was 60 years old.

Lin Binri was indignant at what happened to Lin Yuhua. Lin Zexu heard about the LinYu incident from his father when he was young, hoping to meet Lin Yuhua. Under the introduction of my father, I got to know Lin Yuhua and read his works. Later, Lin Zexu deepened his understanding of official corruption, which played an important role in his future reform of official management.

Lin Zexu's home is not far from the shrine of Li Gang, the general who fought against gold in the Southern Song Dynasty, so it became a place for him to socialize with his friends. After that, Lin Zexu specially visited the remains of patriots in previous dynasties and felt the influence of patriotism and national thought. Later, he and his friend Liang Zhangju initiated the restoration of Li Gang's cemetery and the reconstruction of Tomb of Yuqian Ancestral Hall. ?

4. Lin Zexu's story-changing the meaning of poetry

Shen Baozhen, son-in-law of Lin Zexu, was not famous when he was young, and was full of ups and downs. She once sang a poem about the new moon: one hook is enough for tomorrow, why is it full of splendor? After reading it, Lin Zexu thought his son-in-law's poem was good, but there was something wrong with it, so he changed the word "must" to "love" for him. Shen Baozhen's poems are somewhat conceited and narrow-minded.

Lin Zexu changed it to "what's more, it is full of ten points", which is quite different in poetry. When you become a fame, you can accumulate talents and knowledge for the world to use. Once in a high position, you can show your talents and realize the great cause of governing the country and safeguarding the country. Moreover, compared with the previous sentence, the poem implies the profound meaning of "worrying about the people if you live in a high temple, and worrying about the monarch if you are far away". The word difference reflects the different thoughts of Weng Xu and his wife.

5, Lin Zexu's story-friendship with the list

Paine used to be the governor of Jiangnan and the governor of grain transportation. In his later years, he gave little protection to the Prince, and after his death, posthumous title was "Wen Shen". In the 16th year of Jiaqing (18 1 1), Lin Zexu ranked fourth among the 92nd Jinshi and Paine ranked thirty-fifth. After being admitted to Jinshi, both of them were elected as Jishi Shu of imperial academy.

Later, in the second year after he became an examiner (18 17), Paine ranked first in the big exam, and his article "Chenghai Loufu" won the appreciation of Emperor Jiaqing. These two famous figures in history are friends as well as friends, and they had extraordinary contacts during Jiaqing and Daoguang periods in Qing Dynasty.
