Zhang Xu, born in Wu Jun (Suzhou, Jiangsu), was born in Gaobo and Ji Ming. At first, it was the commander-in-chief of Changshu, and later it was the military attache of Jin Dynasty. It was called "Zhang Changshi" Gong Shishu, and it was the most famous cursive script. He is free and easy, open-minded and unrestrained, and likes to drink. He and Li Bai, He, Li, Li Jin, Cui Zongzhi, Jiao Sui are also called "Eight Immortals of Drinking". Often in drunkenness, I write a big book with my hair, and I am so drunk that I am called "Zhang Dian". When dancing with Li Bai's poems and Pei Wenjian, it is called "Three Musts". His books are all original, including "Long Guan Shi Ji", "Four right cursive scripts" and so on. His official book The Records of Langya Stone is completely European and rigorous, while Ouyang Xiu's Collection of Ancient Records says: "Xu is famous for his cursive script, and The Records of Langya Stone is really lovely." Four Ancient Poems, with its brand-new and beautiful form, has formed a magnificent masterpiece. Feng Daosheng wrote: "If the pen is thrown from the air, it will be elegant and smooth, and it will be in the spirit of heaven, not by human power." "Xuan He Shu Pu" said: "Although there are many strange cursive characters, we seek their source, and there is no one in the painting who cannot be disciplined."

According to legend, he saw the princess arguing with her husband, and he heard the advocacy and got the meaning of brushwork; When I was in Yexian County, Henan Province, I loved watching Gong Sundaniang dance the sword of Xihe River, so I got the grass god. Yan Zhenqing resigned twice and asked him for his brushwork.

Zhang Xu, Wu (near Suzhou, Jiangsu), was a famous calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty. In calligraphy, he is especially good at cursive writing. His cursive script is endless and ups and downs. The so-called "Zhang Miao Yu Fei" means that his cursive lines are thick and full and extremely wonderful. Han Yu, a great scholar in the Tang Dynasty, praised his cursive art in Gao Xianxu. His cursive script, Li Bai's poems and songs, and Pei Min's sword dance are called "Three Musts" by contemporary people.

Zhang Xu likes drinking. Every time I get drunk, I yell wildly, freely and endlessly. God helps others, which is called Zhang Dian. According to Li Zhao's Supplement to National History, Zhang Xu wrote cursive script after drinking every time. When writing, he shouted with a pen, dipped his head in ink and wrote with his hair. His "Fa Shu" is elegant and wonderful, full of different tastes, and even he was surprised when he woke up. This is probably an exaggeration.

It is a fact that Zhang Xu is addicted to alcohol. He often writes after drinking, and his cursive script is also perfect. Du Fu said in the Song of Drinking Eight Immortals: Three cups of grass in Zhang Xu, with their hats off, appeared before the princes and put pen to paper like a cloud.

"Three cups" means drinking, but actually it's not drinking three cups. The phrase "taking off his hat" depicts his madness when writing. The phrase "brush one's hair" describes the exquisiteness of his cursive script.
