gaochun old street is located in Chunxi Street, Gaochun District, Nanjing, also known as Chunxi Old Street. It is the commercial center of Gaochun, the best-preserved ancient architectural complex in Jiangsu Province and the best-preserved ancient street in Ming and Qing Dynasties in East China. It is known as the "Second Confucius Temple in Jinling" and the "First Ancient Street in Jinling". Gaochun old street has a history of more than 9 years since the establishment of the market in Song Dynasty.
The old street is more than 8 meters long from east to west, with a width of 4.5-5.5 meters. It is also called Yizi Street because of its zigzag shape. The buildings on both sides are brick and wood structures, with two floors above and below. The shape not only has the style of Anhui Huizhou School, but also has a distinctive local traditional style. There are lots of buildings in Ming and Qing Dynasties in gaochun old street. These ancient buildings are listed beside the water, with white walls and blue tiles, upturned cornices, exquisite brick and wood stone carvings and traditional calligraphy plaques. They are simple and elegant, and are praised as "the epitome of oriental civilization" and "the art treasure house of ancient buildings" by Chinese and foreign scholars and tourists.
gaochun old street Scenic Area mainly includes nine scenic spots, including Guanwang Temple, Gaochun Folk Museum, Yangting, the headquarters of the first detachment of the New Fourth Army, Gaochun Folk Performance Hall, the former site of the New Fourth Army's office in Gaochun, the ancient well in Qianlong, and the ruins of Jesus Church, which mainly show the ancient and simple ancient architecture art and the rich folk culture contained in it.
