Zhenwu's calligraphy is authentic.

One day in the late autumn of A.D. 1669, the painter Wang was on the road, looking at the clinic, and the scenery in front of him evoked his memories. That year, he borrowed a copy of "Deep Show in the Western Hills" written by Dong Qichang, and kept reading, pondering and writing for several months, from which he found out the ink brushwork, layout and composition of mountains and rivers in ancient China paintings.

Wang Jian was a famous painter in Qing Dynasty, and he was also called "the Four Great Painters" with Wang Shimin, Wang Yi and Wang. He was an orthodox painter highly respected by the Qing government in the early Qing Dynasty. In the early days, he was admitted to the office of Taishou, and after two years, he was dismissed and returned home, painting and calligraphy to amuse himself. He and Dong Qichang are teachers and friends, and Dong Qichang's achievements and status in painting and calligraphy are higher. At first, Wang Jian studied painting in accordance with Dong Qichang's antique, the "antique" route. Borrowing Dong Qichang's "Deep Show in the Western Hills" is the concrete practice of "archaizing".

Dong Qichang often warned Wang Jian, "People who learn painting can only be famous if they are familiar with it." Wang Jian himself realized that the paintings of famous painters such as Dong Yuan and Ju Ran, just like Rainbow's calligraphy, are the correct way for painting learners to learn. "Painting without learning and skill is hard to become famous in the end." Therefore, his paintings handed down from generation to generation often have the words "no intention to learn from the teacher", "no intention to learn from the law" and "if you are ashamed".

After a lot of copying, Wang Jian had his own understanding of the painting techniques of the ancients, and applied them to his own paintings, forming his own style and becoming a generation of masters.

There is a saying in China that "seeing things and thinking about people", and there is another saying that "touching the scene and feeling". When Wang Jian saw the scenery outside the window, such as Zhenwu's "Deep Show in the Western Hills", he couldn't help thinking that he had borrowed this painting from Dong Qichang and Shu Yuan, a collector after Dong Qichang. At this time, Dong Qichang and Yuan Shu have been dead for more than 20 years, and Zhenwu's "Deep Show in the Western Hills" doesn't know where to live. This situation disappointed 76-year-old Wang Jian. Wang Jian began to repaint a beautiful scene of the western hills, and wrote "I am embarrassed to dream of the ancients" and "I miss the past as if it were a lifetime ago" to express my thoughts of my friends.
