I often stay among the mountains, forests, springs and rocks, and my dusty heart gradually fades away; I still stay in the poetry, books and pictures, and my tackiness gradually disappears.

Commentary on the classic sayings of "The Wisdom of Cai Gen Tan" (forty)

Original text: The body is like a boat without ties, and it can only be stopped if it becomes popular; the heart is like a gray tree, so why not The knife cuts the fragrant coating.

Translation: The body is like a ship without a cable, drifting freely with the current; the heart is so desperate that it is like a tree that has been burned to ashes, so what does the success or failure in the world, honor or disgrace, matter?

Comments: When a person is exhausted physically and mentally and is unable to retain or fight for anything, it seems that there is no emotional awareness and no matter what. The desire for fame and wealth is too strong, and the results are often counterproductive. If only the external environment can make you relaxed and happy, but the worldly distractions have not been removed from your heart, you will only feel relaxed and happy for a while without looking at the fundamentals.

Original text: Wandering among the mountains, forests, springs and rocks, the dusty heart gradually subsides; I remain in the poetry, books and pictures, and the tackiness gradually disappears. Therefore, although a gentleman does not play with things to lose his morale, he often uses circumstances to adjust his mind.

Translation: Walking leisurely among mountains, forests, springs and rocks, the worldly thoughts in your heart gradually calm down; indulging in reading, reciting poems, painting and calligraphy, the tackiness of your body will disappear unconsciously. Medium fade. Therefore, although a gentleman will not indulge in sightseeing, or lose his ambition among rare calligraphy and paintings, he can often cultivate his body and mind in a pure and beautiful natural environment.

Comments: For people in the world, a well-educated person can live in seclusion in Linquan and rely on the outside world to calm his inner thoughts. A talented person can recite poems and paint and calm down the secular world. The energy gradually faded away. For true practitioners, it is more important to experience things in the world and train the mind. Small hermits can be hidden in the woods, and big hermits can be hidden in the city.
