The Tao Te Ching Building in Yixian County is a tall octagonal cylinder made of white marble. It is composed of three parts: a top body and a base. The building is 4.29 meters high, 90 centimeters long, and 40 to 42 centimeters wide on each side. It is carved from two pieces of marble joined together. On the main body of the building is the Dao De Jing of Emperor Xuanyuan. On each side are engraved eighty-one chapters of Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching. The text was written by Su Lingzhi. His calligraphy is elegant and graceful but has the strength of steel, and is elegant and handsome but has iron bones. The style of writing is smooth.
