Fang Yujie's anecdote

Fang Yujie's research on Huang Tingjian, a great calligrapher in Song Dynasty, is mainly his cursive script, and he has made great efforts on Huang Tingjian's Biographies of Lian Po, Lin Xiangru and Zhu Shangtie.

When it comes to Huang Tingjian's calligraphy, we can't help thinking of a person. He is Fang Yujie's good friend and a famous calligrapher, Mr. Shi Huanquan. Mr. Shi is a master in many aspects, especially Wei Bei, who is famous for his calligraphy style. As for Fang Yujie and Shi Huanquan, their personal relationships are very good, so there are countless anecdotes about elegant writing. According to their good friend, Mr. Sun Wenxing, on the occasion of a calligraphy exhibition one year, the two met to drink tea and write a book at Nanyang Art Museum, and they boldly cooperated and enjoyed each other. In summer, there is a bookcase in the empty hall. They drew up the content first, and then unfolded the paper. He wrote a paragraph in two lines in your book, which is wonderful and beautiful. Suddenly, the ink dried up, the pen shook, and there was no one around. Two feet away, eight feet vertically and horizontally, a giant system was ready to come out. Friends Ma Shaotang, Li Hui, Lee Hung, etc. Watch the battle from side to side and marvel at its significance. Because both of them have a special liking for cursive script, and their cursive script works have been selected and won prizes in the national calligraphy exhibition for many times, but their styles are different. Mr. Shi Huanquan's cursive script was taken from Huanggu Valley, involving Zhu Zhishan, Xu Wei, Wen Zhiming and other schools. The cursive script was integrated into Weibei's brushwork, and the lines written were used by Fiona Fang, which was vigorous and bright. Mr. Fang Yujie's cursive script is based on Zhang Xu and Huai Su, involving the "two kings" and Wang Duo schools. He pays attention to artistic conception, continuity, pursuit of spirit, giving priority to circles and having a strong sense of rhythm. So although they are all cursive, their styles are quite different. However, the two boldly explored and jointly created a work for submission.

When asked why they want to co-create a work for submission, the two replied: First, although they both wrote cursive script, they were always dissatisfied with their works and felt that they had not reached the ideal state. Their styles complement each other, hoping to achieve an ideal creative realm through this cooperation; Second, the cursive styles of the two people are different, that is, I want to try to see if I can combine the cursive scripts with different styles to form a brand-new look; Third, co-creation is easy to produce passion and impulse, and often can infect each other, trying to tap the motive force of creation; Fourth, the essay does not say that two people are not allowed to create a work together. According to the current law, as long as there is no express stipulation that it is not allowed to do it, you can do it. Then try it. In addition, other arts such as art, sculpture, music, dance, film, television, drama, opera and other categories can cooperate. Why can't calligraphy cooperate? In addition, according to the call for papers, each work has to pay an entry fee. Isn't this a saving? When asked if no one had done this before, would the jury not recognize it? Will your work not be selected (including winning the prize)? That's it. Is it for two or one? How to pay the certificate bonus? They believe that works of art should pursue the ultimate artistic effect, not the creative process. That's what they want to do anyway. As for whether you can get the certificate and bonus, that's a matter for the judges. They created, contributed, and their task was completed. The next thing is the judges. It doesn't matter to them whether they are selected to participate in the exhibition. The phenomenon they advocate is not grandstanding, let alone mystifying. It may also inspire peers to pursue artistic effects and improve the exhibition mechanism.

Finally, ask others if they think it is a kind of hype. Two people shook his head and smiled, "why hype? Why hype? I don't know what I do is right or wrong. How others evaluate it is someone else's business, and they can't control it. " Haha, simply answering a few question marks shows the innovation, complementarity, pure academic attitude and peaceful mentality of the two contemporary young and middle-aged artists.

"Taster" in the eyes of book lovers

Fang Yujie likes the cursive script of "Get drunk before you rest". It is said that after learning that both of them are addicted to alcohol, he decided to try his writing situation and book style under the influence of different alcohol. One night in early 2006, after school, he returned to the dormitory and took out two bottles of white wine sent by his friends in Shandong the day before yesterday. He opened the bottle and poured the wine into the lid while laying paper and pouring ink. Then, have a drink, write a word and go on. As a result, I woke up the next morning and found a room full of waste paper covered with dirty ink, which spilled on the bed. I even sat on the edge of the bed with two empty bottles in my hand, and later I was "wine taster" by my friends. In Fang Yujie's later memories, he confirmed this legend and hit the nail on the head: "Cursive writing is not fast, but it is faster than other types of writing, such as running script, and it is not a good book after drunkenness. Often when you are drunk, you don't even know your own consciousness. How can you write good words? Only when I am drunk, my passion becomes active, which may break some traditional writing habits and thinking, and there will be some unexpected effects and free and easy book style. "
