Interviewee: Liu, male, a math teacher in a middle school in Nanjing, has been engaged in education for about 4 years. He is a teacher who loves teaching and cares about his students.
Q: Teacher Liu, how long have you been doing this job?
A: I graduated from 1 1 school. I got this job the next year, and it's almost four years now.
Q: How did you find this job? What are the requirements or conditions for being a teacher?
I went to Huazhong Normal University, and I majored in normal education. I just want to be a teacher after graduation. Later, I chose to come back and look for a job. I also interviewed many schools and was finally admitted to my present home. I think if you want to be a teacher, you need to love this job first; Secondly, we should have good cultivation, especially moral cultivation. The motto of our school is "Honesty and Honesty, Success in Learning", and our teachers should set an example first. Then you should have enough knowledge reserves, and I often find that sometimes I don't have enough knowledge, and some questions are not found well, which is more complicated to tell students, and sometimes students can't answer some questions, which is very embarrassing; Well, calligraphy is passable. I just didn't practice writing on the blackboard at first. Now I have to write the blackboard slowly so that the students can understand it, which slows down the pace of class. (Laughter)
Q: As a student, I can see the teacher's work in class, but I don't know much about the teacher's work after class. Can you describe the working hours and tasks of teachers under normal circumstances?
A: There is a saying: Ten minutes on stage, ten years off stage. This sentence is also very appropriate to describe the profession of teachers. The lecture on the podium lasts for 45 minutes, so you need to prepare lessons in advance. In addition, correcting homework and papers is very heavy work and will take a lot of time. The working hours of teachers in our school are about 8 hours, but they often need a lot of extra time to finish their work. Especially for people like me who have only been engaged in this job for a short time, they have a lot to learn and even less time.
Q: So, do you think this job is stressful? Do you feel very hard?
A: The pressure is really great. The first is the pressure from the school. Our school has certain indicators for teachers' teaching work, and our teaching work must reach the indicators. Secondly, there is pressure from students themselves. A large part of students' future is in our hands. Teaching quality affects a person's life. I have to take this job seriously. And I'm a little perfectionist. I either don't do it or I want to do it and do the best. This is also one of the motivations and pressures of my efforts.
Q: What do you think of your teaching environment?
A: I don't think it's particularly good. Our school is not the kind of school with particularly good educational facilities.
And resource management is not in place. But from a national perspective, it is still good. Of course, I think it also reveals that the educational environment in our country is generally not very good.
Q: Do you think that the current situation of teachers' profession in China is not optimistic? What do you think of its future?
A: That's true. Compared with other countries such as Japan, China's education needs to be improved urgently. However, I think the prospects of teachers are still good. Nowadays, the teaching profession has been paid more and more attention by the state. It is not a dream for teachers to become cutting-edge industries like doctors and lawyers. (Laughter)
May I venture to ask your monthly salary? Are teachers' benefits high?
A: Hehe, nothing. My current monthly salary is about 5000. The state stipulates that the average monthly salary of teachers shall not be lower than that of local civil servants. From this, you can also guess that the welfare of teachers is good. Medical insurance benefits and housing benefits are quite affordable.
Q: Are you satisfied with being a teacher? Do you think your value has been realized?
A: Being a teacher is still very satisfying. I am very happy to watch students grow up under their own attention, which is incomparable to any other job. Moreover, I feel that my ability is not very high, and I can't do such a thing as "winning the world and helping the world". (Laughter) I think my present job is just right for me.
Q: Thank you for your interview and guidance during your busy schedule.
A: You're welcome. If you want to be a teacher, work hard. (Laughter)
