Revealing why Zhao Gou, Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty, did not have children

After the Kang Dynasty, the Song Dynasty experienced great turmoil. Almost all members of the Northern Song Dynasty royal family were captured and went to the north, and the Southern Song Dynasty was established. Perhaps for this reason, the emperor became very timid and could not stand being scared. He has always wanted a stable life and would not think of major conflicts. But still in the war, he became incompetent. Since then, he has lost his fertility and his only son has died early, so he had to pass the throne to his nephew Song Xiaozong.

From a wise king to a bad king.

In his early years, Zhao Gou was a respectable monarch. In addition, Zhao Gou had high martial arts skills and was unwilling to succumb to Xu Jin. He is good at calligraphy, and his ink marks range from 0,755 to 79,000.

However, in his later years, Zhao Gou was indeed a bad king. He relieved Yue Fei, Han Shizhong and other generals from their military power, determined to make peace with Xu Jin, and killed Yue Fei, who was loyal to the country. Zhao Gou obeyed some treacherous ministers and eunuchs and insisted on moving the capital to the southeast for the sake of convenience. So he moved his capital to Hangzhou.

How could Zhao Gou be impotent?

In 129 AD, when the Jin soldiers invaded, the Song Dynasty general Liu Guangshi was afraid of the Jin soldiers and fled without fighting. This allowed the Jin soldiers to successfully cross the Huaihe River, and the Jin cavalry suddenly attacked Yangzhou, the seat of the Southern Song Dynasty's small court.

The military situation ahead was tense, but the emperor didn't care at all and continued to live a promiscuous life in Yangzhou Palace. After learning the news from the front line, the eunuchs immediately told Emperor Gao. At this time, Emperor Gao was enjoying himself. The news that "Xu Jinguo's cavalry is going to kill Yangzhou" was like a bolt from the blue! The adulterer Song Gaozong and Zhao Gou were immediately frightened to the point of impotence.

The emperor panicked, immediately put on his clothes and rode out of the city to save his life. With only a few corrupt officials around him, Zhao Gou left the soldiers and civilians in Yangzhou City and fled across the river to the south of the Yangtze River.

Because of this, although Song Gaozong saved his life, he could not have any more children!

The frail Zhao Gou has been taking 28 girls as concubines.

When men discover that they have this problem, they will express their "external strength" through violence against women or other extremely abnormal ways to cover up the "emptiness" in their hearts.

Everyone has self-respect, let alone the king of a country. When Zhao Gou discovered that he was impotent, he kept taking concubines, and they were all young girls in their twenties. This is a typical distortion in the heart of Zhao Gou who has lost his fertility. This was something Empress Wu was very dissatisfied with.

It became clear to everyone later that Song Gaozong’s only son died, and the heir to the throne was selected from Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin, and Xiaozong was finally chosen as the heir. In 162, Zhao Gouchan was located in Zhaobian, where he was revered as the emperor of the Ming, Ming, Moh and Sheng dynasties, and the Great Sage. He died in 1187 at the age of 81 and was one of the few long-lived emperors in history.
