Second, what about Dong's epitaph? The full name is Epitaph of Beauty Dong Shi. In the seventeenth year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (AD 597), the original stone of Jiaqing and Daoguang years in Qing Dynasty was unearthed in An, Shaanxi Province. The income obtained by Shanghai officials in Xingping, Shaanxi Province was returned to Shanghai Xu. In the third year of Xianfeng (AD 1853), the original stone was destroyed during the peasant uprising war of Shanghai Filial Piety Society.

The calligraphy of the Sui people inherited the calligraphy style of the Northern Wei Dynasty and created a new style of the Tang Dynasty, which is a bridge connecting the Southern and Northern Dynasties and the Tang Dynasty. Dong's epitaph is the first of Sui Shu Xiaokai, which is superior to the epitaphs of past dynasties and the first of Zhong Shaojing's Xiaokai in Tang Dynasty.
Its calligraphy layout is neat, neat and meticulous, with neat and rigorous words, beautiful bones and abundant muscles, subtle brushwork and elegance like a lady's family. Judging from the face value of the font, the method of format is pure, and the meaning of the text is completely different from that of the Jin people and the epitaph of the Northern Dynasties. However, we can partly see the round, gorgeous and firm brushwork of the foreign side, giving people a refreshing feeling, and the ancient meaning is unclear.
Luo Zhenyu in the Qing Dynasty spoke highly of this: "Kai originated from the great preparation of Sui and Tang Dynasties, and was passed down from Sui to Dong, Wei's daughter and Zhang Guinan in recent times, which is especially called a unique art."
