Wang Xizhi's hometown

Linyi people in the Eastern Jin Dynasty

Linyi is an ancient historical and cultural city, praised by predecessors as "a great man with a beautiful heart". Among the celebrities in Linyi, Wang Xizhi is the most admired by the world, so people used to call Linyi the "hometown of Xi".

Wang Xizhi, a book sage, is a general of the right army, also known as the "right army". Born in 303 AD in Langya County (now Linyi City), he loved calligraphy since childhood, and was good at truth, grass, official script and seal script, especially official script. Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi are called "two kings" in the history of China calligraphy. Wang Xizhi not only circulated in the Book of Jin, but also wrote a monograph by Lao Taizong himself. Mainly because of his excellent calligraphy, he was awarded by Emperor Taizong. Emperor Taizong praised him, "Therefore, Wang Yi is the only one who studies the ancient and modern times in detail and studies the fine seal elements to achieve perfection." Emperor Taizong was an emperor who loved calligraphy. He was really eager to pursue Wang Xizhi's ink all his life. Until his death, he left his last words and buried the preface to Lanting with Zhaoling, the first running script in ancient and modern times, leaving a controversial case.

In the first year of Jin Yongjia (AD 307), Wang Xizhi moved his family to Huiji Yin Shan (now Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province), leaving his former residence as a Buddhist temple, which experienced ups and downs. The pseudo-Liu Yushi, renamed Zhao Pu Temple, has been passed down to this day. In memory of this calligrapher in China history, since 1990, Linyi District Administrative Office and Linyi Municipal Government have invested more than 4 million yuan to restore the former residence of Wang Xizhi.

Wang Xizhi's former residence is located at No.20, Xiyanhu Street, Linyi City. This is a classical garden-style building. The first phase covers an area of about 28 mu, with a construction area of more than 300 square meters. Opposite the gate is Xiyan Lake, covering an area of 5 mu. Legend has it that Wang Xizhi went to the pool to wash inkstones after practicing calligraphy hard in his childhood. After a long time, the water in the pool is black, so people call it "Xiyan Lake". About 10 meter to the north of West Wild Goose Lake, that is, a book-drying platform 2 meters above the ground, with 150 square meter, was the place where the Wangs dried books at that time. There are five antique buildings, covering an area of 200 square meters, about 0/0 meter north of Daishu Taipei. They are Langya Academy built by modern people, which contains the inscriptions of Wang Xizhi and the original works of famous calligraphers. On the west side of the former residence is a 100-meter-long calligraphy tablet gallery, all written by famous contemporary calligraphers. On the east side are pavilions, bridges, flowing water and bamboo forests with pleasant scenery.
