Along the winding mountain road, we drove to the temple gate, only to see that the temple gate renovated a few years ago had been eroded by sandstorms. Incense wax and sacrificial paper dripped on the square in front of the temple, and the bell rang from time to time and spread five miles away.
According to local people, this small-scale temple was built in Liao and Jin Dynasties and has a history of nearly a thousand years. The temple is full of incense. According to a monk in the temple, every year on New Year's Day, February 19, June 19 and September 19, a large group of good men and women go to the temple to burn incense and pray. On that long and narrow mountain road, people are crowded and look like a long dragon cruising in the mountains from a distance.
Long Yun Temple is located on both sides of Longyun Mountain. There are nine mountains, which seem to be surrounded by nine dragons. The local legend calls it "Kowloon holds a saint". Long Yun Temple, a thousand-year-old temple, was renamed three times because of its long history, which attracted many officials to pay homage. According to legend, in the winter of the second year of Su Zonggan Yuan (759), when Wang Lijun of Hanzhong was demoted as the secretariat of Pengzhou, he visited this temple and called it Longtan Temple. Later, because Li Jun was the son of Li Xian (the eldest brother of Xuanzong) in the Tang Dynasty, he was a dragon son and grandson, so he expanded Longtan Temple and renamed Longyou Temple. In the early years of last Yuan Dynasty (760), when Yan Zhenqing (assistant minister of punishments and calligrapher) was demoted to Peng Cishi, he visited this temple and wrote the word "Long Yun Temple" in person. Since then, the name of "Long Yun Temple" has been used ever since.
