Characters ‖ Poetic thoughts of thousands of valleys in mind - Impressions of landscape painter Yu Xiaoting

Stacked waterfalls and flying springs appear on the paper.

The month-long "Joy of Golden Autumn - Exhibition of Chinese Painting Works by Yu Xiaoting" came to an end recently. This exhibition displayed more than 50 exquisite works of Yu Xiaoting, a well-known painter in our city, in recent years.

Sincere, low-key, humble and restrained, this is the first impression that Yu Xiaoting gives people. Yu Xiaoting is good at creating ink landscape paintings. He is currently a member of the Jiangxi Branch of the China Art Association, an executive director of the Jiujiang Artists Association, and a member of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Jiu San Society. Yu Xiaoting, who has passed his destiny, has been fond of painting since he was a child. Having grown up in Lushan since childhood, he has an overview of the changes in the beautiful Kuanglu throughout the year. During the conversation, he repeatedly said that he was "self-taught but not talented". It was the plants and trees of Jiujiang and the beautiful mountains and waters of Mount Lu that inspired him endless inspiration. Therefore, using pen and ink to express the fragrance of his hometown has become a "nature" in his paintings.

?

? He has shown his talent for painting since he was a child. He has won many national awards at a young age. For example, in 1992, his work "Kuanglu Family" participated in the China Artists Association, People's Daily China Painting and Calligraphy Academy's "Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Art and Framing Art" seminar won the first prize in the Chinese Painting Grand Prix. In 2001, his work "Love on the Plateau" participated in the 4th Contemporary Chinese Landscape Painting Exhibition hosted by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and won the Excellence Award. In 2004, Yu Xiaoting was transferred from Jiujiang Chemical Fiber Factory to the Art Teaching and Research Section of the Art School of Jiujiang University and became a professional Chinese painting teacher.

In Yu Xiaoting’s eyes, painting is a pure, natural and heartfelt action. For decades, he has been indifferent to fame and wealth and devoted himself to painting. He has always accompanied himself with an initial mentality of being happy, contented and proud. He told reporters that painting landscape paintings can make the creators calm as water, open-minded and wandering, and can feel the past and present as well as nature. When creating a painting, it is like rocks falling from a high mountain or flowing clouds and flowing water. It is really wonderful...

Shi Tao, a famous painter in the Qing Dynasty, said: "Search all the strange peaks to make a draft." This means that the painter must go there. Only through in-depth experience in nature can we "learn from the outside and gain the source of the heart." I have been painting for decades and sketching for decades. Yu Xiaoting deepens her feelings through subtle observations. He carefully constructs the scenery, selects the scenery, and constructs the scenery. He uses the brush to dialogue with the mountains and rivers, taking thousands of mountains and rivers into his arms and carrying them into his heart. Yu Xiaoting said that Lushan was his teacher for many years in Lushan, and most of his inspirations came from Lushan. Different expression methods and techniques of Chinese painting can express the landscape characteristics of Mount Lu. The Lushan Mountain described by Yu Xiaoting is not only about appreciating the steep mountains or the majestic waterfalls, but also about deeply understanding the connotation of the mountains and rivers, rather than hastily describing their mountain shapes and water shadows. Thousands of mountains and valleys can be captured in the pen, and thousands of customs can be stored in the pen. It is precisely because he has thousands of caves in his heart that he can write with thousands of peaks in mind when splashing ink.

? In order to pay equal attention to the cultivation inside and outside the painting, Yu Xiaoting also loves traditional Chinese culture and draws nutrients from it. Yu Xiaoting believes that understanding the aesthetic characteristics of Chinese paintings will sharpen our intuition. Only by combining imagination when appreciating works can we appreciate the cultural background, charm, charm and edifying feelings of the works. Calligraphy and painting are one of the most concentrated expressions of the intelligence and creativity of the Chinese nation, but not everyone can appreciate the art of calligraphy and painting at a higher level, which is intended to include literati paintings and highly abstract and flowing calligraphy points other than pen and ink. Planning structure requires knowledge and cultivation of traditional culture.

? The famous painter Xu Donglin said of Yu Xiaoting: He has been immersed in pen, ink and inkstone for decades, and his paintings fill the walls. He always aims to find the sweet and clear spring from chaos, and explores the classical spirit and modernity in the entanglement. The fusion of speculation and unremitting efforts accompanied Huang Ting's scroll-like practice and gradually reached a better state. "Looking at the form of Mount Lu during the day, dreaming about the spirit of Mount Lu at night, the work is formed by thoughts and permeates the heart." Art critic Tian Liyun also spoke highly of Yu Xiaoting.

"Chinese painting is the quintessence of the country, and there is no end to learning. At the moment, I am just a practitioner, a hobbyist, and a professional worker." At the end of the interview, Yu Xiaoting said sincerely that his mission is Keep learning, take the strengths of others, and use them for your own use.

Only through continuous learning and improvement can we create high-level works of art.

? I look forward to Yu Xiaoting climbing to the peak of art, constantly surpassing himself, and opening up a broader artistic world. (Written in November 2016)
