Generally speaking, regular script still has far-reaching historical significance and cultural value, and it has ushered in new development opportunities in the digital age.
Regular script evolved from ancient official script. Regular script synthesizes strokes of various calligraphy styles, such as Da Zhuan, Xiao Zhuan, Han Li, Han Bamboo Slips and Cao Zhang, and extracts a set of basic strokes: point, horizontal, vertical, left-handed, holding, folding, bending and hook. These commonly used strokes are extremely concise, so as to control the complexity with simplicity without losing the basic purpose of creating words. Subsequently, regular script established the standard forms of various strokes, which made the form of Chinese characters unprecedented.
