This temple is the largest Sendai Temple in Gaozhou area. In the early Ming Dynasty, after Gaozhou moved south to Maoming City (now Gaozhou City), Xiantai Temple also moved south, and was built outside the East Gate in the 14th year of Jiajing (A.D. 1535), which was called Xiantai Temple in Gaozhou in history. The main building of Sendai Temple in Gaozhou is three rooms and four entrances, with a width of13.2m, a depth of 62.2m and a construction area of 826.3m2.. Brick and wood structure, red walls and green tiles, arched cornices, gorgeous decoration, painting, plastic carving, carving and other art forms, showing a strong national style and local style.
Painting: mainly murals. Taking folk stories as the theme, each content shows a theme, and it is painted on the roof of each temple continuously, reaching nearly 100. Among the murals on the eaves of the nave, the Ming and Qing dynasties overlapped to form a special multi-layer painting form, which has high historical and artistic value.
Pile modeling: mainly ridge decoration. There are ridges in the front, middle, main hall and back hall, and their contents include dragon playing pearls, double carp yue longmen, fairy lady story and other theme shapes.
Sculpture: There are mainly two categories: stone carving and wood carving. Stone carvings include railings of the zodiac, three-dimensional dragon columns, drums at the gate, male and female lions and so on. Wood carvings include auspicious screen, hundred flowers floor cover, hum and haw gatekeeper, tile mast skirt, sitting statue of fairy lady and so on. These sculptures all express traditional national art with traditional crafts, which are dignified and simple.
In the bright room of the main hall of the ancestral temple, there is a statue of the fairy lady. Standing on both sides of the statue of Lady Xian are two bodyguards of Lady Xian. One is Mulan, guarding the sword for her. The other is Cao E, who keeps a beautiful seal for his wife. Sitting in the middle of the dragon chair is a statue of Mrs. Xian. The big statue at the back is fixed in the temple; The figurine in front is like a palace, which can be carried in a parade when patrolling. Among them, the design of the big statue fixed in the temple is very scientific: after pressing the organ, the statue stands, sits up, stretches out and retracts its hand, which is convenient for believers to change clothes for her. This kind of sculpture design, because of its great difficulty, is only used in the sculpture of Gaozhou Xiansi Temple. On the wall of the second room of the central hall, there are more than a dozen inscriptions with more than 10 thousand words. Calligraphy forms include seal, kai, Li, xing and Song. These inscriptions truthfully record Mrs. Xian's life and historical achievements, which are not only the material materials for studying Mrs. Xian, but also the treasures of calligraphy art.
The back hall of Sendai Temple is Fenggong Temple. Feng Gong, Feng Bao, the husband of Mrs. Xian, was a former prefect, who helped Mrs. Xian build great achievements all his life, and was named Guangzhou General and lord protector by posthumous title, Emperor of Sui Dynasty. Fenggong Temple is a single building, with a large courtyard in front of the main hall and cloisters on both sides. The end of the cloister is connected with the main hall of Sendai Temple. There is a statue of Mr. and Mrs. Feng Bao in Fenggong Temple, which is called "God of Peace" by the masses.
