Analysis of Zhang Zaiyang's Works

Zhang Zaiyang's calligraphy, like many calligraphers in modern times, puts emotion first. On the surface, taking the method is "taking the method of Jin and Tang Dynasties". In fact, it directly traces back to the origin of Shang and Zhou calligraphy and the changes of Li and Zheng in the Six Dynasties, explores the mystery of its composition and the trend of juvenile changes, and deduces the deeper internal laws of calligraphy art, taking quality as the research, taking the situation as the method, and taking the length of inscriptions as the method, melting in one furnace without revealing traces. Most of the books left by Zhang Zaiyang are couplets and inscriptions. This couplet is generous, natural and coherent, revealing the writer's overall spirit of arrogance, which coincides with his reputation as a book.

Because couplets are independent of each word, the requirements for single words are relatively high. Every word in this couplet is heavy and steady, and some words look inclined on the surface, but the center of gravity is still very stable. The upper and lower words of couplets are numbers, and the strokes are mostly horizontal and vertical, so it is difficult to write. In order to avoid similarity, the words "ten" and "two" are straight, while "twenty" and "four" are oblique, which is in sharp contrast with the above couplets, dignified and rigorous. The knot is precise and restrained, dense and well-organized, and the stippling is varied. As many as nine points of "outside", "multiple", "back" and "nothing" are different from each other; The horizontal and vertical thickness contrast of characters such as "Trace", "Odd" and "Book" is outstanding, which shows the author's originality. In my opinion, writing couplets is the best way to achieve this goal. Zhang Zaiyang's calligraphy works have been included in Modern Celebrity Ink Wonders and Celebrity Ink Collection.
