The life and major historical contributions of Xue, a famous Neo-Confucianism scholar in Quetta in Ming Dynasty.

Xue Xuan's life Xue Xuan, whose real name is Wende, is from Nanxueli, Hejin County, Shanxi Province. Born in the twenty-second year of Ming Hongwu, he died in the eighth year of Tianshun. Ming Dynasty thinker, famous master of Neo-Confucianism, founder of Hedong School.

After Cao Duan, Xue initiated the "Study of Hedong" in the north. His disciples are all over Shanxi, Henan and Guanlong, with a large number. Its learning spread to the middle of the Ming Dynasty, forming a "Guanzhong school" with land as the main part, and its trend is "dividing feelings between numbers and Yangming". Qing people regarded Xue Xue as a descendant of Zhu Xue, calling him "the crown of Neo-Confucianism in the early Ming Dynasty" and "the foundation of Ming Dow studies". There were two schools in Ming Dynasty: Yangming School in the south and Zhu Xuan School in the north. It can be seen that its influence is great. His works have a total of 46 volumes from 0755 to 79000. Xue was the first Tessa who was allowed to sacrifice in Confucius Temple in Ming Dynasty. His works were included in the recitation textbook of imperial academy, the highest institution of learning in China at that time, and the world respectfully called him "Master Xue". In learning, he is his own master. Being an official, being honest and strict with yourself is a rare example. Xue Xuan was born in an educated family. From the third year of Xuande to the first year of Tianshun, he was an official for 24 years, and most of the time he was in charge of law and discipline, such as supervising the imperial history, Dali Temple kindergarten teachers, Dali Temple kindergarten teachers and so on. In the meantime, he was strict with himself, diligent and honest, upright and upright, and enforced the law like a mountain. He is regarded as a "smart, handsome and honest" honest official. After his death, he was named the Minister of Rites, posthumous title, and called Gong.

A generation of honest history

Xuande three years, Ming Xuanzong plans to rectify military discipline. On the recommendation of cabinet officials, Xue was appointed as secretary of Guangdong Daoci and supervisor of Huguang Bank. Huguang Silver Field, namely Yuanzhou Silver Field, governs more than 20 silver mines in Xiangxi 10 counties, with more than 500,000 migrant workers. Over the years, the management here is chaotic and corruption is rampant, which needs to be rectified urgently. When Xue _ first took office, he knew that he was shouldering a great responsibility, so he warned himself with the Tang poem "This town is rich in treasures and not tired of poverty". Has been stationed in Yuanzhou, Chenxi, Luxi and other places. Those who patrol back and forth, make unannounced visits and undertake important cases, especially those who are reported for corruption and bribery, will be removed from their posts and severely punished according to law. Therefore, the county silver code is in good order and the people praise it. He has been in office for three years and has never been home. When he left office, he was clean and white, as he said in his poem: "Mo Yan's white brush went south for a long time and got nothing." In six years, Xue became a small secretary of Dali Temple and participated in the trial of prison cases. At this time, the eunuch in charge of state affairs quickly sent someone to give gifts to Xue _ and invited them to meet, but they were all politely declined by Xue _. When the courtiers met Xue, they were afraid of being accused. Repeatedly advised him to go to the palace to thank him. But he answered seriously: "What reason do you have to accept the title of the imperial court and thank the private room?" I don't care! Not only that, all the ministers also went to the East Pavilion to discuss this matter, but all the officials and ministers bowed when they saw it, only Xue _ bowed. From then on, Wang Zhen held a grudge against him even more.

After Xue Xuan came to power, he devoted himself to rehabilitating unjust cases. In just over four months, he completed more than 10 unjust prison cases in Wei Jinyi. Coincidentally, in the process of Xue _ handling a case, there was such a thing: the first wife of an officer who died in the Royal Guards for two years was beautiful and romantic, and she had an affair with her nephew and the acting captain of the Royal Guards. They wanted to get married at once, but the officer's first wife stopped them on the grounds that the three-year mourning period had not expired. As a result, neither of them was satisfied. Susan Wang instigated the official wife to tell him that she suffocated her husband with witchcraft. Therefore, He's case was detained and sentenced to death by the court. Xue _ found that there was injustice in it, and repeatedly asked for supervision suggestions and review requests for rehabilitating the case. However, these people were pardoned, because they were afraid of offending Wang Zhen, so they had to be handed over to the punishments. After the punishments found out that there was a wrong case, Xue angrily impeached the examiners for dereliction of duty and perverting the law. This caused Ma Shun's suggestion and strong dissatisfaction from Wang Wen and the Royal Guards Duchayuan. They immediately slandered Wang Zhenda, and Wang Zhen flew into a rage. He impeached Xue on the grounds of dissatisfaction with the court, sentenced him to death and put him in the Royal Guards Prison. After Xue Xuan went to prison, many people went to see him, but he was still holding the book in his hand and absorbed in reading. Li Xi, the chief political officer, said admiringly, "A real man!" At the afternoon meeting, Wang Wen was the chief judge and raised questions. Xue _ immediately reprimanded: "As a suggestion, you should avoid it. You can ask me! " Wang Wen was speechless and answered correctly. Xue Xuan was wronged and shocked the ruling and opposition, even the old servant of Wang Zhen shed tears. Seeing anger, Wang Zhen had to give in. After Xue _ was rescued by Wang Wei, the minister of the Ministry of War, he was spared the death penalty and retired to his hometown. It took seven years to rehabilitate this unjust case, that is, fourteen years of orthodoxy.

Xue _ is an honest official, diligent and loving the people. He sincerely pointed out: "Love is the foundation of politics." "Although officials are husbands and wives of fools, we should respect them, not ignore them." "If you love people but don't love them, don't love them. "He profoundly expounded the love of the people and the support of the army; The importance of making people rich. He said: "money comes from the people, but if it is widely spent, money is not enough;" "If wealth is insufficient, people will be poor. The poor are tired, and the tired are embarrassed. " It is under the control of this thought of loving the people that Xue embarked on a career of pleading for life and revenge for the people, and his touching deeds were widely circulated.

In the first year of Jingtai, Xue _, who had just been reinstated, was ordered to go to Sichuan to help Li Kuangping, the secretariat of Yidu, fight against the Miao and Yi Uprising in western Sichuan. During this period, he personally visited the local people's feelings and found that local corrupt officials cut down trees indiscriminately, making life difficult for the people and making complaints difficult. The uprising was mainly caused by this. So, after the uprising subsided, he immediately wrote to the court, "Although Fan Chuan is far away from home, it is not appropriate to pay tribute when he is in bondage." He cited facts to show that the Miao and Yi areas have exhausted their manpower and financial resources. Only by reducing the tribute can there be no misfortune. However, the court was noncommittal about this proposal. In a rage, he asked the court to resign and go home.

In the fourth year of Jingtai, there was a great famine in the whole country. People in Suzhou and Songjiang borrowed food from rich households. However, the rich took advantage of people's danger, raised food prices, hoarded, and refused to borrow. This aroused people's antipathy, and there were incidents in which people began to rob the rich to help the poor and burn houses. The court sent Taibao Wang Wen to investigate and deal with it.

During Yongle period, under the guidance of famous scholars Wei and Wang at the end of Yuan Dynasty, young Xue devoted himself to the study of Neo-Confucianism in Song and Ming Dynasties, which was quite accomplished. After becoming a politician, he studied hard. Whenever he has time, he personally copies the book "Famous Words in Politics", reads it carefully and often stays up late. Especially on winter nights, he still studies hard by lighting candles despite the cold weather. When he was studying, if he had any experience, he immediately recorded it. Later, he remembered more, so he integrated the two 23-volume books, The Complete Book of Sexual Principles and Reading Records, and later became an important work of Xue _ to study Neo-Confucianism.

Xue admired Zhu Cheng's Neo-Confucianism, and his thoughts came down in one continuous line with Zhu Cheng's Neo-Confucianism, but it was not a simple continuation of Zhu Cheng's Neo-Confucianism, but a further improvement and development of Zhu Cheng's Neo-Confucianism. What is commendable is that, under the guidance of the idea of "endless debate and endless views on saints", he abandoned the old and sought for the new, and put forward many viewpoints with materialistic ideological tendency, which played an advocacy and guiding role in the new materialistic trend of thought in the middle of Ming Dynasty. First of all, he criticized and reformed Zhu's idealistic concept of regulating qi, that is, "regulating qi first" and "regulating qi must be two different things", and clearly put forward a new viewpoint of "regulating qi based on qi" He repeatedly stressed: "reason is only anger, and it must not be followed." "Reason and Qi coexist and cannot be separated; Without gas, there is no place to stop. " At the same time, it is wrong to point out clearly that "regulating qi is definitely two things". He said: "It's harmless to adjust the air." "There is no air gap. If it is split in two, it is not embarrassing. " He insists that Qi is the most primitive material noumenon that constitutes all things in the universe. He said, "There is only qi between heaven and earth." "Everything in the world is made of gas." All the above statements are correct and should be fully affirmed.

Xue has always advocated practical learning thought and pragmatic style of study. He not only clearly put forward the concept of "practical learning", but also endowed it with rich connotations. He said, "People should always remember the word' reality', always look at their words and deeds, so that everything they think is true and there is a place to be virtuous." He also said: "Don't talk too much for study, but also care about your career!" " "While emphasizing the importance of action, he also affirmed the guiding role of knowledge in action. For example, he said, "if you know what you are doing, you will do it during the day, and there will be no mistakes;" If you don't know what to do, if you walk in the dark, you can't see anything. Although there are occasionally people who are suitable for the road, there will be some differences. " Because Xue _ strongly advocated "practical learning" and practiced it all his life, his theory was called "persisting in practical learning" by people at that time, and he himself was also called "practical learning Confucianism".

The theory of "renaturation" occupies an important position in Xue's new Confucianism. Xue's renaturation theory is still idealistic in essence. Although Zhu Cheng actively maintains orthodoxy, he also has materialistic views. As far as the origin of "sex" is concerned, Zhu believes that "sex" is innate and comes from nature; Xue _ believes that "sex" or "reason" is mainly formed the day after tomorrow. On the specific explanation of "renaturation", Zhu pointed out that "renaturation" is to restore human nature and goodness; Xuexuan is not like this. He said that "renaturation" means seeing, listening, speaking and moving according to reason. It is not difficult to see that Xue's renaturation theory is to a great extent a revision and improvement of Zhu's theory of reproducibility.

Educate everyone

Xue's theory had a great influence on that time and later generations. By calling his disciples to give lectures for a long time, he trained a large number of scholars according to his own ideological system and founded Hedong School, which is famous for its history. After more than a century, the Hedong School continued to grow and develop, and Xue's disciples were all over Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan,

Xue is also a famous educator. When he went to Beijing as a scholar, he wrote to the court and proposed "willing to teach him by pawn", but it was not approved at that time. In the first year of orthodoxy, the official ministers actively recommended Xue and stated his resume, knowledge and achievements, because the court intended to select talented officials and revive school education. Soon, the court promoted Xue _ to be the magistrate of Shandong Inspection Department and studied politics, which finally made him get his wish. To this end, he happily told others, "This is my business."

After Xue Xuan took office, he emphasized the strict management of the school. He asked the school to act in accordance with Zhu's "Bailudong Regulations", and also stipulated that students who dropped out of school without reason should compensate for the food they got during their school days. Pay attention to changing the style of study. Everywhere he went, he asked the students whether they could apply what they had learned, and earnestly warned them that they must "respect others, be kind to others and seek truth in practice". Third, actively advocate teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. He proposed that "teaching people should be done in accordance with their aptitude". Every student can learn to walk, learn calligraphy and painting, or learn to recite and write poems and poems. Moreover, we can only learn from each other's strengths, and we can't demand perfection. There is a lifelong member somewhere who often drops out of school because of his poor family. He failed several rural exams and asked to drop out of school. Xue Xuan asked his teacher: What did the student do in the spring and autumn? Answer clearly. He immediately pointed out: Qing is the most difficult instrument among the eight tones, so this lifelong member is useful material and should not be allowed to drop out of school. Later, the student was admitted to Jinshi. Xue Xuan has worked in Shandong for five and a half years and achieved remarkable results. Smart and stupid, old and young, are very grateful and admire him. In the autumn of Zheng Tong's sixth year, he was transferred to Beijing, and the students reluctantly saw him off in tears. The scene is touching.

Wanpingyuan Village Xuexuan Family Temple

Xue is not only diligent in supervising school, but also willing to teach and educate people. He returned to his hometown to give lectures twice in his life, once he was framed as a civil servant by Wang Zhen, and once he returned to his hometown in 14. Especially for the second time, he studied and gave lectures in the residence of Nanjie Street in Hejin County, which attracted so many scholars from all directions that the building could not hold on. He taught people "renaturation" and his theory was profound and thorough, which benefited everyone a lot.

Xue is also a writer and poet. Literary works include more than 260 essays and 1570 poems, with remarkable achievements. As for poetry writing, he once said: "All poetry works are based on true feelings, and the so-called past events are not forgotten, and the words of the future are also. So all poems are based on true feelings. " In other words, any work that comes from the heart and has true feelings can be regarded as a good work. In terms of writing methods, he advocates clear organization, gorgeous rhetoric and concise articles; He also stressed that only with profound cultivation and noble moral sentiments can a good article be written. These opinions are undoubtedly correct and brilliant.

Xue's prose essays can be roughly divided into travel notes, random feelings, gifts to friends and fables. In writing, most of them are rigorous in structure, fluent, fresh in style and profound in meaning. For example, The Book of Reading, with its concise narrative, vivid scenery and immersive feeling, is called the masterpiece of prose in the Ming Dynasty and was selected as a middle school textbook in the 1960s. The Book of Youlong and the Book of Rethinking Pavilion are all touching. While exposing corruption, bribery and corruption laws and regulations, they did not forget to warn the world and encourage themselves to be diligent and honest, be cautious, well-founded and convincing.

Xue likes writing poems. Many poems will appear in travel, boarding, living, reminiscing about the past, reading, meeting friends, seeing off, etc.

In the spring of the first year of Tianshun, Xue _, who was 69 years old, was reused by the court. He used to be assistant minister of rites and a university student of Hanlin Academy, and joined the cabinet to participate in maintenance. At first, he was full of ambition to serve the imperial court. Every time he is summoned by the court, he can call a spade a spade and offer suggestions. He expounded his views many times by calling himself king, attaching importance to talents and using collective strategies. However, he soon discovered that Emperor Yingzong was mediocre and incompetent. He was at a loss for the confusion of officials, ignored the correct opinions, killed Yu Qian, a loyal minister, and asked him to buy lions and toys from the south. Since then, he has no confidence in the revitalization of state affairs, and thinks it is better to "see more things and do more things" and return to the motherland. So, on the grounds of an old illness, he went to Zhang one after another. After getting permission, they left the capital on the fourth day and set foot on their way home. Then he said happily, "My Tao will make me equal!" " "

In the days after Xue _ returned to China, while gathering people to give lectures, he deeply studied the theory of the renaturation of good and evil, and carried out stricter cultivation to make it reach a higher level. Seven years later, on June 15th, the eighth year of Tianshun, he suddenly felt unwell, so he arranged his manuscript and then wrote a poem at his desk: "The lamb chops in the heatable adobe sleeping platform were covered with paper, and the sun shone on the east window, and there was no movement for 76 years. This heart only feels heaven. " Tong died at the age of seventy-six, and he hasn't finished writing yet.

After Xue's death, the court sent officials to hold a grand funeral for him. The following spring, he was awarded "Fu in the Boat". According to Xue's achievements before his death, he was named as a good doctor, does history, posthumous title. In September of five years, after the death of Xue (107), the court issued a letter allowing him to worship the Confucius Temple. He eventually became a famous Confucian with his profound knowledge and lofty moral integrity. For this reason, everyone in the world called him Xue Fuzi.

Xue was an official during the orthodox and Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty. He has served as secretary of Dali Temple, assistant minister of rites and university student of Hanlin Academy. A senior official loyal to the monarch, under the control of sober people-oriented thought, clearly put forward the viewpoint of "taking love as the political basis", and further summarized "nurturing people's livelihood, restoring folk customs and prohibiting people from joining the society" as the "three essentials" for governing the world. He sincerely cares about the broad masses of the people and makes every effort to solve their worries; It is really commendable to put forward the correct opinions that won the hearts of the people and interpret the moving story of pleading for the people and redressing grievances.

Historical contribution

Treat others sincerely and cherish others with love.

To love the people, first of all, there is a question of how to treat the people. In feudal society, many officials thought people were stupid, so they were full of responsibilities. But Xue Xuan is completely different from them. He opposes treating people as "stupid and cheap" and persecuting and punishing them blindly. He warned people, "an official, although the husband and wife of a fool, should respect them, not ignore them." He also said: "People are stupid, but God can't be bullied. He just acts in good faith. " He reminded those officials who think that the people are stubborn, they must get rid of prejudice and treat them gently, and they must not "force the people to obey", otherwise it will lead to serious consequences of "taking the enemy as your friend and losing both sides". Being honest with others is the basic requirement of loving and serving the people. Only by being honest with the people can we change people's understanding and attitude towards officials, and officials can truly win the trust of the people, handle all kinds of political affairs smoothly, and make the people calm. Xue Xuan explained this truth most clearly in the article "Preface to Sending Forests to Zhengzhou". At the beginning, Hancheng was called the most difficult county in Shaanxi, and its main crux was that "the people were too fond of observing and losing their strength, so they were slandered." However, after Li Gongju worked here as a magistrate for nine years, the people became very obedient, everything was easy to complete, taxes were paid in time, and the countryside was peaceful. When Gong Li was to be transferred from his post, people tried their best to keep him. Why is there such a completely different change? Xue _ analyzed: "The world is ancient and modern, and the people are connected." "I feel the people with sincerity, and the people respond with sincerity; I won the people with wisdom and the people responded with wisdom. " This is my own "lack of sincerity", but it boils down to "people's stubbornness" Really shouldn't! Finally, he made a meaningful and humorous remark: "If there are people's organizations, don't say they are stubborn, but you should be responsible for their sincerity. If you don't believe me, please assure Jing Yun that "if you can protect a child, if you can really protect the person you love, how can people not be relatives?"? "Reading also quotes Mencius as saying:" Treat people as harm and be mindful. " He also pointed out: "The so-called kingly way is to truly love the people like children. Mencius said,' Old people have a sense of security, old people have a sense of security and young people have a sense of security'. It is inevitable that people will love them as much as their parents. " When he saw with his own eyes that people in some places were "full of warmth and self-sufficiency, but there were no immigrants outside their homes", he said with deep feelings: "It was this sentence that once made people admire the land that turned barren land into fertile land and soothed the tired and sleepy land. Anyone who doesn't care about good advice can. If officials really love the people as much as they love children, then the people will definitely regard officials as their parents. The reason is so simple and clear.

Pay attention to education before restoring the people.

The main purpose of Xue _ "restoring folk customs" is to make people understand justice through education and influence, and then form pure social customs and good social morality. In this sense, educating the people is also a great event of loving the people and serving the people.

Xue puts the education and influence on people in a very important position. He said, "People don't learn enlightenment, but know that there is criminal politics, and customs are hard to be pure." He also said: "Buddhism, as an auxiliary tool of governance, should be based on enlightenment." He also said: "People's hearts are soft, and there are indeed strong people, but they can do whatever they want." In many books, he repeatedly praised the county and state leaders who attached importance to educating the people. He said that Li, the magistrate of Hancheng County, was able to "tell the people about filial piety, loyalty and honesty" and "be honest and clean, and the people were moved by it", which made the people deeply satisfied and made great achievements.

Xue Xuan has many requirements in educating people and understanding justice. The following points are emphasized here:

First, focus on the center. Is to try to keep your heart pure and complete. Xue Xuan has repeatedly stressed the importance of being in the middle. He said: "Honesty, self-cultivation, keeping the family in order, governing the country and leveling the world are all for Wang Zhidao." He pointed out that "if the heart is not right, everything is wrong." How can I be upright? First of all, we should pay attention to honesty, which is the basic principle of being a man; Secondly, due diligence means "don't look, listen, say or move for no reason"; Is to be a gentleman, not a villain, because "a gentleman takes the virtue of others, and a villain takes the snobbery of others."

The second is to talk about ethics. Xue _ said at the beginning of Reading Record: "The reason why people are different from animals is only in ethics. What is a Lun? Father and son, monarch and minister, husband and wife, young and old, friends, in the same order. What is rationality? That is, father and son are related, monarch and minister are righteous, husband and wife are different, young and old are orderly, and friends are trustworthy. These five things make sense. When ethics is clear and exhausted, people can only use its name. " In other words, observing ethics should be the minimum requirement of being a man. Although most of the above ethics are feudal ethics, it is still of reference value to inherit the tradition today.

The third is to uphold justice and destroy human desires. Justice refers to the nature of selflessness, benevolence, righteousness, courtesy and wisdom; Human desire refers to selfishness, and selfishness refers to the hobbies of ears, eyes, mouth, nose and all bodies. Xue _ talked about his own personal experience and said: "If you want justice, you will be broad-minded and clear-minded; If you consider human desires, your heart is narrow and dark. "He believes that people's desires are like' attacking the enemy' and will wait for the opportunity to enter, so they must be strictly guarded; He pointed out that the most effective way to preserve justice and eliminate people's desires is to carefully examine the province and do our best for our own personal interests.

It is worth mentioning that for educating and influencing people, Xue _ has always adhered to the viewpoint of "correcting yourself by correcting others and cultivating yourself by being kind to others". He said with emotion in the article "The Essence of Neo-Confucianism": "It is inevitable for people who are thousands of miles away and eager to get along with others to do anything!" To this end, he told officials many times that he must strengthen his self-cultivation, be strict with himself, set an example with noble morality and correct behavior, and strive to educate the people to achieve better results.

Advocate saving expenses and improving people's livelihood

Xue's thought of "protecting people's livelihood" is an important measure of "consolidating the foundation" on the basis of the thought of "people are the foundation of the country". He believes that improving people's livelihood is.

First, we should pay attention to stabilizing people's hearts. In order to stabilize people's hearts, we must help them get warmth and happiness. "Preface to Sending Zhu Zhifu to his post" He said: "Full use depends on financial management, and financial management depends on safety. Everyone is safe and still short of money! " When observing people's feelings, he always asks whether the harvest is good or bad, whether the people can get warm, whether they pay taxes, whether they are displaced, whether they are exploited by officials and the rich, and

Second, we should pay attention to cherish people's strength. Mainly refers to saving financial expenses. In the preface to sending a dragon, he thoroughly analyzed: "money comes from the people, but if the expenses are wide, the money is insufficient. If the money is insufficient, the people are poor, and people are good at research and exhaust." He also borrowed a sentence from Lu in the Tang Dynasty: "The people are the foundation of the country; Wealth is the heart Broken heart is broken heart, broken heart is broken heart, broken heart is broken heart, broken heart is broken heart, broken heart is broken heart, broken heart is broken heart, broken heart is broken heart. In order to save money, he warned people: "frugality and simplicity are human virtues;" Luxury is a great evil. "And be strict with yourself and set an example for everyone in terms of" frugality and honesty ".

Closely related to saving money is paying less taxes. Xue _ strongly advocates thin taxes in order to give people a chance to recuperate. He pointed out: "taking harmony is a big section, and its meaning should not be unclear." The key lies in "taking the right way". He repeatedly told us to be lenient when collecting taxes. Only in this way can we conform to public opinion and have no complaints. He is firmly opposed to imposing exorbitant taxes, which will increase the burden on the people. In the first year of Jingtai, when he helped Li Kuangping, the secretariat of Sichuan Province, stop the Miao rebellion, he visited the people in Miao, Yi and other ethnic minority areas to understand the plot of the rebellion. He found that there, because "ordinary official duties were stripped off", the people were miserable, which was "the official forced the people to rebel". To this end, he immediately proposed to Li Kuangjian: "It is better to grasp their hearts honestly than to be powerful and convincing." After the Miao rebellion subsided, he actively wrote a manuscript to the court, pointing out that "although it is far away, it is not appropriate to pay tribute when it is bound." In view of the poverty of the local people, he asked the court to reduce the people's tribute to ensure the long-term stability of society. Unexpectedly, the court turned a deaf ear to his seal. So he lamented bitterly: "If you don't use it, it's hard to ask for advice, and you don't have to ask for advice." I couldn't figure it out at the moment, so I simply resigned from the court and returned to China.

"Wenqing Pavilion" in Lotus Pond Park

Enforce the law impartially and safeguard the people.

Xue _ has been a discipline inspection official for many years. He has always been upright, honest and self-disciplined, and enforced the law impartially. He personally tried a large number of litigation cases, so that those who took bribes and perverted the law got the punishment they deserved and were cleared.

First of all, he believes that every well-disciplined official should be clear about his mission and responsibility, so as to fulfill his duties and strictly enforce the law. In the first article "Essentials of Neo-Confucianism", he summarized the responsibilities of exegetical officials as "weeding out traitors, nurturing kindness and being an official of either side". In the article "Reading History", it is pointed out: "Anyone who is appointed as a censor, although assisted and suppressed, is justified by the evil of a hundred teachers and the injustice of ordinary prisons; As for national politics, people's livelihood is comfortable, and Chen Qi's gains and losses are clear. " He hopes that all officials with good discipline will try their best to "eliminate corrupt officials, protect kindness, and make single people weak and proud instead of being bullied by arrogance." Because of this, he stressed: "Since ancient times, there have been many prisons in the world that cannot be leveled, and those who are punished cannot choose any of them!" Secondly, he pointed out from his own experience: "Don't bully the monarch, don't sell the law, and don't harm the people. This is the' three essentials' for officials to control themselves. " If you don't hurt people, you love them and serve them, and you use law and discipline as tools to protect them. He said: "The prison knows folk music, and folk music is the foundation of a strong country." In his law enforcement practice, he really hates corrupt officials, go to hell; Sympathize with the people and try your best to redress their grievances.
