Calligrapher Zhang Jie, whose courtesy name is Ruoshui, was born in Beijing in 1956. Graduated from Renmin University of China in 1982. When he was young, he became a disciple of famous contemporary calligraphers Xiao Lao, Jin Yumin, Xu Zhiqian, and Dong Shouping, and studied calligraphy, painting, seal cutting, and ancient poetry. He has won the First National College Student Calligraphy Competition Award, Youth Outstanding Art Work Award, China Book Award Special Prize, Seoul Mayor Award, South Korea, etc. In 1988, he was elected as the Chinese Youth Star, and his story was published on the front page of "China Youth Daily" "Every Monday" "Star" column was published. He serves as Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee and Deputy Director of the Jury of the Chinese Youth Calligraphy and Art Competition jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and the Chinese Artists Association. His works have been frequently published in newspapers and periodicals and have been collected by museums, art galleries, libraries and art lovers at home and abroad.
