Wang Xizhi was born in a calligraphy family. His uncles Wang Yi and Wang Dao; Cousins Wang Tian and Wang Qia were both famous calligraphers at that time. Wang Xizhi (32 1-379, or 303-36 1) was born in Linyi (now Shandong) and later moved to Yin Shan (now Shaoxing, Zhejiang).
