Characteristics of regular script writing

Characteristics of regular script writing:

Regular script is characterized by square font, neat strokes, incoherent and regular structure. His stippling includes eight types: one point, horizontal, vertical, skimming, pressing, lifting (picking), folding and hooking, and the strokes develop regularly, forming the "eight methods of ancient characters". All strokes of regular script are summarized in eight methods.

In Ci Hai, the characteristics of regular script are summarized as "square straight pen, which can be used as a model". When writing regular script, we should not only pay attention to the compromise between the thickness and length of strokes, but also write our own posture according to the shelf structure of each word, and be dignified. The basic font of regular script is square, which requires the font to be symmetrical, fair, flying and irregular, depending on the word, standing by the word and coordinating the proportion.

When using characters in regular script, we should treat them according to the specific situation, so as to coordinate. From the structural analysis of Chinese characters, there are roughly single structure, up-down structure, left-right structure, enclosing structure and comprehensive structure. The font should be horizontal, oblique and vertical, and the whole word should be straight. The uprightness of the whole word requires a stable center of gravity and balanced coordination of all parts.

Kai, originally the name of a tree, is Pistacia chinensis, with sparse and indomitable branches, thus extending the meanings of "tall and straight", "model", "French" and "Kai". In this sense, "regular script" actually refers to those neat books. No matter what era, all neat calligraphy at that time can be described as regular script.
