Wang Duo (1592 ——1652), the word Jue Si, the word Jue Zhi. His cursive script is wild, easy to write, leisurely and happy with his pen, ups and downs, natural and surprising, showing a breathtaking momentum and great appeal. Ma Zonghuo said, "People who are wise are careless, and they all gain power by brushwork, but those who feel that they can imitate their intentions can gather their intentions, so it is not easy to say this if they are not extremely powerful, imposing and unable to do so." It is no exaggeration to call his cursive script "the first person since the Soviet Union". Some people compare his lines with Xu Wei and Zhu Zhishan, two other cursive writers in Ming Dynasty: his brawniness is not only different from Xu Wei's vigor, but also different from Zhu Zhishan, not to mention Wen Zhiming and Dong Qichang. In addition, his sense of composition in structural treatment is unprecedented. If we say that from Zhang Zhi, Zhang Xu, Huai Su, Huang Gu to Xu Wei, the development of cursive script is based on the richness and frustration of using pens, but in terms of structural treatment, it is released again and again, and then Wang Duo successfully stopped this uncontrolled torrent. He snared the runaway wild horse with calm reason, followed the trend, was changeable, unconventional and innovative.
His innovation in pen and ink is also pioneering. His lines are vigorous and ancient, subtle and changeable. He showed his special personality in casual leaps, and sometimes boldly used thick, light and even Su Mo to create a strong contrast between lines and blocks, forming a strong sense of rhythm. It must be said that his initiative, intentionally or unintentionally, is a great achievement in exaggeration and contrast of calligraphy forms. Before him, no one could actively pursue the effect of "ink painting rising" like him.
Wang Duo's calligraphy had a great influence on the later development of China's calligraphy, and even spread to overseas calligraphy circles, especially Japanese calligraphy.
