Qi Honggang, whose courtesy name is Zixin and whose posthumous name is Runqinxuan. A native of Qian County, Shaanxi Province, his ancestral home is Shandong. Graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Qinghai Normal University. Living in Wuhan City, he worked for a calligraphy newspaper and served as the editorial director of Calligraphy and Painting World. He is currently the president of Lianzhu Calligraphy Society, the executive vice president of the Hubei Creation Institute of the Chinese Academy of Ethnic Calligraphy and Painting, a member of the editorial and publishing committee of the Chinese Hard Pen Calligraphy Association, the deputy secretary-general of the Organizing Committee of the China Double Ninth Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition, and a member of the Hubei Provincial Writers Association.
