About running script and regular script
Regular script evolved from official script and flourished at the end of Han Dynasty. It is a common standard font so far. Its brushwork is not wavy, the font is square and the writing is simple.
The picture below shows the regular script works in the teaching materials of my major.
Running script was produced in the late Eastern Han Dynasty and has been used ever since. Its shape is eclectic, close to the grass, and its strokes are continuous, independent and easy to identify. It can be divided into cursive script and running script.
The picture below shows several running script works in the professional textbook I am studying now.
Of course, the forms of running script and regular script are not limited to the content of these calligraphy. Different calligraphers may have different styles when writing the same font.
So you can choose running script or regular script according to your preference. After all, when you are interested, it is already a good start.
If you think both are acceptable and don't prefer that, then most beginners will start with the practice of regular script. You can also try.
My handwriting has always been bad, and emmmm still is, but I have started practicing.
As for copybooks, I use regular script copybooks with grooves.
Something like this ~
Then the brushwork is actually quite important.
At the beginning of our calligraphy class, we asked to practice from eight basic stroke forms: "horizontal, vertical, left-handed, pressed, pointed, raised, hooked and folded";
Then there is the structure of a word. For example, the structural rules of regular script are "horizontal and vertical, evenly spaced, tight at the top and loose at the bottom, tight at the left and loose at the right, highlighting the main pen, etc."
If you can operate skillfully, it will be easy to write.
There is also more practice and comparison of this word.
For example, in class, we will copy down the model essays in the book with carbon paper, and then practice with Mi Zige himself, and then compare the exercises.
It is very important to learn to summarize, otherwise, no matter how you write, it will not change.
