Xishan is located 15 kilometers from the western suburbs of Kunming City and consists of Huating Mountain, Taihua Mountain, and Luohan Mountain. Its peaks and mountains stretch for more than 40 kilometers, with an altitude of 1,900 meters to 2,350 meters.
According to legend, there is a phoenix inhabiting the mountain, which is called "Biji Mountain" because it resembles a beautiful girl lying on her back by the Dianchi Lake. The blue silk hanging down from the sea is why it is known as "Reclining Buddha Mountain" or "Sleeping Beauty".
It is a large forest park and a scenic spot with many places of interest. It mainly consists of Huating Temple, Taihua Temple, Sanqing Pavilion, Longmen, Nie Er's Tomb, etc., as well as scenic spots such as Puxian Temple and Yang Sheng'an Temple at the foot of the mountain.

Attraction introduction
1. Taihua Temple
It is located on the mountainside of Taihua Mountain, the highest peak of Xishan Mountain. Taihua Temple was built in the Yuan Dynasty and consists of the Tianwang Hall, the Main Hall, the Piaomiao Tower, the Yibiwanqing Pavilion, the Waterside Corridor and the North and South Wings. The temple is surrounded by dense bamboos and ancient forests.
2. Nie Er’s tomb
It is piano-shaped, solemn and generous. The seven flower stands represent the seven-note scale, and the 24 stone steps represent Nie Er’s 24-year-old age. There is a statue of Nie Er carved from white marble in front of the tomb, and the relief on the wall behind it shows the glorious years when the Chinese people united to resist the war and fought successively under the inspiration of the "March of the Volunteers".
3. Longmen Grottoes
Located at the end of Xishan Scenic Area, starting from Sanqing Pavilion in the north and reaching Datian Pavilion in the south, it is the largest and most exquisite Taoist grotto in Yunnan. "Longmen Scenic Spot" is characterized by "strange, unique, dangerous and secluded". It ranks first among the many scenic spots in the West Mountain of Kunming. It enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad and is a must-see for tourists in Kunming. Therefore, there is a saying that "if you don't visit Xishan, you will not reach Kunming, and if you don't visit Longmen, it will be a wasted trip to Xishan."
