1933, Yan died in Guiyang at the age of 8 1 and was buried in Yinjiang.
The Summer Palace is one of the largest existing royal gardens in China, which was destroyed by the British and French allied forces in 1860. In Guangxu 14 (1888), Cixi misappropriated huge military expenditure to rebuild and renamed it the Summer Palace, which was later destroyed by Eight-Nation Alliance. 1903 has become more and more perfect after restoration, and the couplets are all exquisite. At that time, the imperial court sent a letter to collect books, and Yashi, a famous Chinese scholar in Beijing, rushed to present books. After reading it, Cixi was dissatisfied and furious, which made the owner feel uneasy, and the author was even more frightened.
At this time, a man named Yan in Yinjiang County, Guizhou Province was entrusted by a friend to apply for a book. Yan's "smoke flies at the bottom of the pen, ink surges in the cold wave", trying to give full play to his unique advantages of taking grass by thread and practicing hard day and night. Finally, he chose the most proud word "Summer Palace" from a lot of manuscripts and sent it to the palace. As soon as Cixi saw these three vigorous, vigorous and unique words, a smile appeared on her cold and iron face. Yan also wrote couplets for the large and small plaques in the garden, which won the appreciation of Cixi and gave him a jade seal. Since then, the word "Summer Palace" has been handed down to the world.
