Jiefang Pavilion is located in Lixia District, Jinan City, Shandong Province. In 1963, Jinan City used the southeast corner of the original inner city to build a platform to commemorate the victory of the Battle of Jinan. In the early 1980s, the city government decided to build a pavilion on Taiwan to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs, and it was completed in 1988. On September 24, 1948, after eight days and eight nights of bloody fighting, the Battle of Jinan achieved a comprehensive victory and annihilated 110,000 enemy troops. The breakthrough point of this battle was at the Jiefang Pavilion. The Jiefang Pavilion was originally a corner of the inner city wall of Jinan. At that time, there was no Pavilion.
Until the 1980s, when the old city walls were demolished due to urban construction, the people of Jinan deliberately built the majestic Jiefang Pavilion on the old city site here to commemorate the liberation of Jinan. A 10-meter-high stone platform was built in 1965, but construction was stopped later due to various reasons. The pavilion was built on the platform in 1985 and completed on September 24, 1986.
The name of the Jiefang Pavilion was inscribed in 1965. The gilt stone carvings and plaques with the words "Liberation Pavilion" are inlaid on the west and south sides of the platform base and on the second floor of the high-hanging pavilion. On the east side of the platform is the "Monument to the Revolutionary Martyrs of the Battle of Liberating Jinan", which was written by Jinan calligrapher Zhu Xueda and engraved with the names of the 3,764 martyrs who died heroically in the Battle of Jinan.
The rapid changes in the city swallow up the vast mist of history. The land under our feet has experienced smoke and artillery fire, encountered the screams of enemy planes, bathed in humiliation and blood and tears, and finally ushered in victory, but behind the victory is How many selfless "dedications" of fresh lives, how many firm beliefs to try again after failure.
Beside Black Tiger Spring, in the southeast corner, Jiefang Pavilion still stands quietly there. Like many scattered springs, although it is silent, it is engraved with eternity.
