Beach is located in Beach Village, Xinzhou Town, Zunyi County, Guizhou Province. The name of the beach comes from a river called Anlejiang in front of the village. Obviously, it is impossible for Anle River, like a big river, to wash away all the stones and sand with the spirit of rushing thousands of miles and the power of big waves. It's just a slender blue river flowing slowly through the village, so inexhaustible sand piles up and becomes a beautiful sand island surrounded by water for a long time.
Among the many tributaries in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, there are countless such beautiful beaches lying quietly on the river, or occasionally involved, or sighing, or neglected for hundreds of years, just a place for fishermen to rest. However, when a beach has cultural connotation, this beach is not just lying on a natural river, it has stood in the long river of human history and attracted the attention of thousands of people.
The beach is a magical small mountain village. It is only ten miles away from Woods behind and Anle River in front. In the last hundred years in the late Qing Dynasty, dozens of famous scholars have emerged. Zhengzhen, Mo Youzhi and Li Shuchang, three great scholars in southwest China who have far-reaching influence in academic circles, are outstanding representatives of beach culture and are known as the "three saints of Qing Dynasty" in central Guizhou. Beach scholars have conducted in-depth research in the fields of literature, Confucian classics, calligraphy, phonology and exegesis, agronomy, medicine, textual research and so on, which have exerted great influence in many aspects.
The establishment of the historical position of "beach culture" is the research result of Zhejiang University students. 1940, the Japanese army occupied Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, and Zhu Kezhen, the National Zhejiang University, led the teachers and students to run schools in Zunyi, Guizhou Province, until the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. During the seven years of running a school in Zunyi, Zhang Qiyun, Tan Qixiang, Qian Mu, Zhang Yinlin and Ren Meihua, professors of the Department of Historical Geography of Zhejiang University, visited the seaside many times to pay tribute to the former residence and mausoleum of the three sages. Mr. Feng Zikai also painted many pictures on the beach, accompanied by poems and essays, which were engraved in the Travel Notes of Woods Mountain. Zhejiang University scholars believe that the beach was once a famous cultural high-value area in China, which was well-known at home and abroad and passed down from generation to generation, forming a group of scholars with remarkable achievements and far-reaching influence. Therefore, there are sufficient reasons to name the sum of humanistic spirit and achievements in this special area as "beach culture".
Li Shuchang is one of the outstanding representatives of "beach culture". In his early years, he learned from the truth and joined Zeng Guofan's staff, winning trust and being listed as one of the "four disciples of Zengmen". Later, Li Shuchang went to Britain, France, Spain, Japan and other countries as a counsellor and missionary, and began his life-long diplomatic activities. His contributions to culture include six volumes of Zhuo Zun Yuan Series, Ding Hai's Journey to Beijing, eight volumes of Western Magazine, 36 volumes of Li Wenji 12, Confucius' Poems, and Compilation of Continuing Ancient Documents, among which * has been published.
Li Shuchang almost traveled all over the world, so to speak, he read all the beautiful scenery in the world, but in his later years, he still left his roots. In his mind, the beach is the most beautiful place.
