"The most talented woman of all time" refers to Li Qingzhao.
Li Qingzhao (March 13, 1084 - about 1155), named Yi'an Jushi, Han nationality, was from Jinan, Qizhou (now Zhangqiu District, Jinan City, Shandong Province). She was a female poet in the Song Dynasty and a representative of the Wanyue Ci School. She was known as "the most talented woman throughout the ages".
Li Qingzhao was born in a scholarly family and lived a wealthy life in her early years. Her father, Li Gefei, had a rich collection of books. She laid a literary foundation in a good family environment when she was a child. After getting married, he and his husband Zhao Mingcheng devoted themselves to collecting and organizing calligraphy, painting and inscriptions. When the Jin soldiers invaded the Central Plains, they lived in the south and were in a lonely situation.
Around the 13th year of Shaoxing (1143), Li Qingzhao collated and compiled Zhao Mingcheng’s posthumous work "Jinshilu" and presented it to the court. More than ten years later, in the 25th year of Shaoxing (1155), Li Qingzhao passed away quietly in extreme loneliness and desolation, with longing for his deceased relatives and infinite disappointment that he could not return to his homeland. He was at least 73 years old.
Extended information
Li Qingzhao’s early poems more truly reflected her boudoir life, thoughts and feelings, and their themes focused on natural scenery and parting lovesickness. For example, the two poems "Ru Meng Ling" are lively and beautiful, with new and meaningful language. Words such as "Remembering the Flute on the Phoenix Stage", "A Cut of Plum Blossoms", and "Drunken Flower Yin" express the deep feelings for her husband by describing the lonely life and expressing the feelings of lovesickness. They are full of twists and turns, clear and handsome. "Die Lian Hua·Wan Zhi Chang Le Guan Sends Sisters" writes about nostalgia for the female companions, and the feelings are extremely sincere.
Although most of her words describe lonely life and express melancholic feelings, we can often see her love for nature and frankly reveal her pursuit of a beautiful love life. This is written by a female writer and is much more valuable than the "Huajian School" endorsement style.
Li Qingzhao’s poetry after his journey to the south was also very different from that in the early period. The political risks and various tragic experiences in her personal life after the collapse of her country and her family made her mentally painful. Therefore, her lyrics changed from the clear and bright in her early years to full of desolate and low sounds, mainly expressing sadness. Feelings of nostalgia and mourning.
