In the spring of 1925, Liu Xiping's memorial service was held, and a pair of elegiac couplets hung on both sides of the mourning hall: "I am determined to be in Xinmin, and I will return to the boat in the white, and the sound of the piano will be broken; Looking back on the past, I look at the clear trees of Mount Zheshan in the distance. Fortunately, I have a strong shadow to shelter the heroes. " Liu Xiping's life of pursuing light, upholding justice and teaching others was highly summarized.

In the spring of p>1929, Liu Xiping's coffin was buried at the top of Zheshan Park. The cemetery covers an area of about 12 square meters. In 1932, people built a stone pavilion for Mr. Wang at the top of the mountain, named "Love Night Pavilion" (taking the homonym of "Mourning"). There were a pair of couplets on the pillars on both sides of the pavilion, the first part was "The morning glow makes the grass weep", and the second part was "The autumn wind shakes down and the old friend is rare". The front beam was engraved with "Mr. Liu Xiping Memorial Pavilion", and the calligrapher Yu Youren wrote a tombstone. In October, 21, Wuhu Municipal People's Government announced that Liu Xiping Tomb was the "Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit" in the city, and in May, 24, a signboard was put up beside the tomb for publicity. People from all walks of life often came to the tomb to pay homage to the tomb.

Life of the character

Liu Xiping, formerly known as Wan Heng, was born in 1873 in Shijiaqiao, Lu 'an, Anhui. In his youth, he sympathized with and supported Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao's reform movement. When he was studying in Japan in 196, he joined the League led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen. After returning to China in 1911, he founded Jianghuai University in Anhui Province as the education director and professor. In 1918, Liu Xiping was invited by Pan Guangzu, president of Zheshan Provincial No.5 Middle School, to be a self-cultivation teacher. In 192, the teachers and students of Provincial No.5 Middle School unanimously elected President Wei Liu. After Liu Xiping became the principal, he advocated "educating people with sincerity" and socialized running schools, and put forward two slogans of "economic openness" and "public discussion of school affairs", which made the democratic atmosphere in schools very active. He also subscribed to new youth, new life, new trends, Xiangjiang review and other books and periodicals for students, and actively promoted the new culture movement. In the autumn of 192, Liu Xiping first advocated "school socialization" in Wuhu, and put forward such ideas as "students should go to society" and "students should make friends with civilians", which were echoed by the teachers and students in No.5 Middle School. He led the teachers and students of No.5 Middle School to set up business night schools in the former Huizhou Guild Hall in Changjie, Wuhu work-study school in Guanyin Pine at the foot of Zheshan Mountain, night schools for businessmen in Wuhu Siming Office (now the Municipal Education Bureau), night schools for workers near today's Bank of Communications and night schools for farmers in the suburbs of Wuhu. Jiang Guangci, Zu Maolin, Wu Baojie, Zhang Huaizhang and other outstanding talents have emerged among the students of the Provincial No.5 Middle School.

Liu Xiping is not only an outstanding civilian educator, but also a well-known democratic patriot. During the May 4th Movement, on May 1th, at his initiative, Wuhu set up "Students' Union" and "Teachers' Union" to organize demonstrations and send electricity to support Beijing students. The famous "Six" occurred in Anqing. After the news spread, Liu Xiping, Guang Mingfu, Li Guangjiong and other senior educators immediately organized and launched the "Anhui Six". Two or three thousand teachers and students held a massive demonstration, which was very shocking. Liu Xiping also personally went to Beijing to accuse Anhui warlords of bribery to Dali Court (the Supreme Court). In 1923, Ma Lianjia, the deputy of Ni Sichong Jiao Military Affairs, the governor of Anhui Province, dismissed Liu Xiping as the principal and ordered an arrest warrant. Liu Xiping was forced to leave Wuhu and go to Nanjing to continue to establish Xinmin Middle School in baixia district. The following year, when Ma Lianjia fell, he was able to return to Wuhu.
