The Yuan Dynasty painter whose calligraphy and painting have the same origin is Zhao Mengfu.
Zhao Mengfu (October 20, 1254 - July 30, 1322), named Zi'ang, Han nationality, also known as Songxue Taoist, also known as Crystal Palace Taoist and Oubo. In his middle age, he was named Mengfu.
A native of Wuxing (now Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province), originally from Lanxi, Wuzhou. Official, calligrapher, painter, poet from the late Southern Song Dynasty to the early Yuan Dynasty, the eleventh grandson of Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin and the direct descendant of Qin King Zhao Defang.
Memorial for later generations
The tomb of Zhao Mengfu is located on the southeast side of the "Yanglintang" villa in Donghenggli, Luoshe, Deqing County, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. This tomb is the joint tomb of Zhao Mengfu and his wife Duan Sheng. Zhao Mengfu's tomb is about 1.5 meters from the ground, 3 meters long and 2.6 meters wide. The tomb is a double-chambered sarcophagus. In front of the tomb are a stone horse and two stone court officials.
In 1319, Guan Sheng was buried here; in 1322, Zhao Mengfu died and was buried together with Guan Sheng; in the autumn of this year, Zhao Mengfu was presented to Wei Guogong, and the scale of the cemetery was expanded. In 1915, soil was added for repairs and tombstones were erected; in 1992, an underground tomb was discovered, and in August it was listed as a county-level cultural relic protection unit; in 1993, the Deqing County People's Government restored the cemetery.
In May 2013, it was approved by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit. In the same year, greening was carried out around the tomb, the stone figures and horses in front of the tomb were re-placed, and the sandy ground was paved with marble.
