The eight basic formulas for calligraphy are as follows:
1. Sitting posture
When sitting at the table, your posture should be upright, and your head should be raised and your chest should be calm;

Put your arms on the table and spread your legs naturally.
2. Holding the pen
Three fingers should be clamped when holding the pen, and the remaining fingers should be close to the brush tube;
Wrist strength is the key to push and pull freely to write.
3. Writing
Only when a person has a correct mind and a correct pen can the writing be correct; if the pen is correct, the writing will be correct;
If the mind is calm, the writing will be harmonious, and if there is Zhang Youchi, the pen will be written correctly.
4. Strokes
Strokes should be written straight and have strength when encountering turning points;
The center's use of the pen is the key, and there are rules for lifting, pressing, and breaking.
5. Fonts
Chinese characters are straight and beautiful, and the glyph structure is the key;
There must be rules for splitting and combining, and there must be laws for reasonable combinations.
Brush calligraphy practice skills
1. Practice the center horizontal and center vertical. The key is to keep the brushing process steady, the tip of the pen to be kept at the middle point of the stroke, and the lines to be full and powerful, so as to experience the feeling of "drawing sand with a cone". At the beginning, practice at one speed and one length. Don't practice too long at first. After you basically find the feeling, you can slowly try to practice different speeds and lengths. No matter how long or how fast, you must keep the center and length. The pen should be steady and not slanted.
2. Practice horizontal lifting and vertical lifting. This is much more difficult than the previous horizontal and vertical line exercise. The key is to add the tip in and tip out. But you still need to find the feeling of "drawing sand with a cone" and keep the pen tip running in the middle. The biggest difference is that the starting and closing of the pen are not round but pointed. This must be achieved through movements in the air.
2. Circle practice. You should also keep the pen tip in the middle of the strokes. The purpose of circle training is to practice turning the pen. When turning, you need to learn to use your fingers and wrist to rotate the pen tip in cooperation.
