Located on the west side of West Lake, the north and south ends connect Nanshan Road and Beishan Road, with a total length of 2.8 kilometers. Su Dongpo, a poet of the Northern Song Dynasty, dredged the West Lake and piled it up with silt when he was the secretariat of Hangzhou in the fourth year of Yuan You in the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 1089). Su Causeway was named in memory of Su Dongpo, also known as Su Gongdi.
2. Wind load of Qu Yuan
In the southern song dynasty, it was called "the wind of bending the courtyard and lotus" "Quyuan" originally refers to the workshop for brewing official wine. At that time, Jinsha River water flowed into the West Lake here, and Qu Yuan took Jinsha River water to make wine and planted lotus flowers in the lake. When the flowers bloom, the fragrance is overflowing and the scenery is beautiful and intoxicating. During the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty, in order to welcome the emperor's inspection, lotus flowers were specially introduced to Yuehu Lake opposite Hongqiao River in Su Causeway. Emperor Kangxi's title is stele, and Quyuan was changed to Quyuan, and "Lotus Wind" was changed to "Wind Lotus".
3. Autumn moon in Pinghu
Located at the western end of Bai Causeway, it has become the starting point of Bai Causeway. The third is to face the water and back to the lonely mountain. Wanghu Pavilion was built here in the Tang Dynasty and was converted into Longwang Temple in the Ming Dynasty. In the thirty-eighth year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1699), it was converted into the Imperial Book Building, in front of which there were three low platforms facing the lake. The platform extends out of the water to the south, with a low line of sight and a wide field of vision, making it a good place to enjoy the moon by the lake.
4. Broken bridge and residual snow
Broken Bridge is located at the eastern end of Bai Causeway. When it comes to Pinghu and Bai Causeway, it's called Broken Bridge. The current broken bridge was rebuilt by 19 14. There are waterside pavilions and stone pavilions with broken snow in the east of the bridge. In the fairy tale Legend of the White Snake, Broken Bridge is considered as the place where White Snake and Xu Xian meet, which adds mysterious and romantic color to Broken Bridge.
Located in the west of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, West Lake is the first batch of national key scenic spots in Chinese mainland and one of the top ten scenic spots in China. It is one of the main ornamental freshwater lakes in Chinese mainland, one of the few lakes in the World Heritage List, and the only lake cultural heritage in China.
The West Lake is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with an area of about 6.39 square kilometers, a width of about 2.8 kilometers from east to west, a length of about 3.2 kilometers from north to south, and a lake area of about 15 kilometers. The lake is separated by an isolated mountain, Bai Causeway, Su Causeway and Yang Gongdi. According to the size of the area, it is divided into five water surfaces: Waixi Lake, Xili Lake, Beili Lake, Xiaonanhu Lake and Yuehu Lake. Su Causeway and Bai Causeway pass through the lake, while Zhou Xiaoying, Hu Xinting and Ruan Gongdun stand in the center of Waixi Lake. The Leifeng Pagoda in Zhao Xi and the Baodi Pagoda in Baoshi Mountain are separated by a lake, forming one.
