"Three years" refers to the liberation war that began in 1946;
"Thirty years" refers to the new-democratic revolutionary struggle from the May 4th Movement 19 19 to the founding of New China 1949;
1840 is the beginning of foreign invasion of China. 1840 since the opium war, China has become a semi-colonial and semi-feudal country. In these three periods, China patriots fought tirelessly! Many of them gave their lives for it.
The inscription "Three Immortals" reads:
"In the past three years, the people's heroes who died in the People's Liberation War and the People's Revolution are immortal!
For more than 30 years, the people's heroes who died in the people's liberation war and the people's revolution are immortal!
This can be traced back to 1840. Since then, in order to oppose domestic and foreign enemies, strive for national independence and people's freedom and happiness, the people's heroes who died in previous struggles are immortal! "
Mao Zedong's inscription was engraved on the Monument to the People's Heroes.
Mao Zedong wrote "People's Heroes are Immortal" in eight characters: 1949 10. Wei Changqing, a famous calligrapher and seal engraver, was invited to participate in the monument building project. Mao Zedong's inscription was originally written on stationery, and each word was only about two inches square. To carve these words on the stone tablet, we must first enlarge the words 20 times, and one of the words "forever" is more than two meters high.
At that time, the staff used the slide projector to enlarge the text, and then traced the text according to the light and shadow. However, the words drawn in this way have lost the charm of the original handwriting. Wei Changqing carefully analyzed the characteristics of Mao Zedong's handwritten characters, and then made a detailed description and processing. Finally, he reduced the processed words by 20 times, which was exactly the same as the original handwriting. Skilled masons carved enlarged fonts on the stone tablet accordingly.
However, because the stone tablet is granite, hard and brittle, it collapsed in an instant, so the carving work was once interrupted. Wei Changqing suggested covering the slate with rubber, digging the rubber out of the part to be carved, and then "stamping" the granite with high-pressure ore. In this way, the masons finally succeeded in engraving the eight neat and shining Chinese characters "People's heroes are immortal", so that they will shine in the hearts of * * * and the descendants of the country forever.
