During the Qin Dynasty, Meng Tian found that writing on bamboo slips was not smooth when using a bamboo pen, so Meng Tian began to study using animal hair as a pen. After many attempts, Meng Tian finally made a writing brush using rabbit hair and bamboo tubes. This invention is considered an important milestone in the art of Chinese calligraphy.
