Liu Yong was a famous minister in Qianlong dynasty, a senior official in the official department, a university student in Tijen Pavilion, and a young prince. In the ninth year of Jiaqing (1804), Liu Yongshan finally returned to his home in Beijing at the age of 85. After his death, he was posthumously presented to Prince Taibao and posthumous title Wenqing, who were worshipped as immortals in temples.

Liu Yong is good at calligraphy and calligraphy, especially in small letters. His books are thick, magnificent and unique in style. He was a calligrapher of the Qing Dynasty, just like Yan Zhenqing and Su Shi. His calligraphy began in Zhao Mengfu in Yuan Dynasty, and he was unique in middle age. He took Wei and Jin as his teacher, and his brushwork was ancient and thick. He, Weng Fanggang and Prince Cheng are also called the four great calligraphers in Qing Dynasty.
When Liu Yong wrote Du Fu's poems, these books were very unique with water-red paper and golden flowers. The first poem, titled "Binding Chicken", tells that a servant tied a chicken and sold it in the city, which aroused the poet's feelings for people, chickens and insects, and the content was quite interesting.
