Brief introduction of Masao Kato.

Masao Kato studied in Minoru Kitani from 65438 to 0959. 1964 entered the section, and 1967 was promoted to the fifth section. At this time, with Ishida Yoshio, he is also known as the "Three Feathers Wu" of Mugumen Youth. 1976 defeated Dazhu hero and won the first "Chess Saint". In the same year, he defeated Lin Haifeng and won the14th "Top Ten Stages" championship. Since then, he has successfully defended his title four times in the "Ten Stages War".

1978 advanced to the ninth stage. During the period of 1979, he won five consecutive laurels: Honebo, Shiduan, Tianyuan, Throne and Hexian. There is also the title of "chess saint". 1985 and 1987 participated in the first and third "NEC China-Japan weiqi competition".

In 2002, at the age of 55, he won the Honebo War again. 2003 16 Top 24 Fujitsu Cup, Top 4 in the 2nd Asia, Runner-up in the 58th Honebo War, Top 32 in the 8th Samsung Goblet of Fire and the 5th Nong Xin Cup. The 1st Central Cup Competition in 2004 and the 6th Nong Xin Cup.

Kato won 47 championships, ranking second in Japanese history. He won a total of 5 show prizes, 20 chess prizes and 6 best player prizes. Disciples: Taishi Omori, Suzuki of Izzo, Hill of He Man and Umezawa Yukari.

When I was young, I played chess fiercely and was easily killed. I am called "the evil star from heaven" or "the executioner" in chess. Later, with the change of age, the chess style became steady, and in the final, it often won with a slight advantage, becoming a "half-eye kato."

After being the president of Japan Chess Institute, Kato reformed Yamato, which existed for many years, and greatly eased the economic deficit of Japan Chess Institute. In 2004, he became the president of the Japanese Chess Institute.
