Li Shimin (599-649), the second emperor of the Tang Dynasty, reigned for 23 years, with the title of Zhenguan. His name means "save the world and help the people". He was born in Ji Cheng (now Qin 'an County, Tianshui City, Gansu Province). Li Shimin is not only a famous politician and strategist, but also a calligrapher and poet. Born in the 18th year of Emperor Kai (599), he was in Chang 'an with his father Li Yuan in his early years and founded the Tang Dynasty in June18. He led his troops to the world and made great contributions to the unification of the Tang Dynasty. He was named King of Qin and General Ce Tian. After the Xuanwumen Rebellion ascended the throne in 626, it created the famous rule of Zhenguan. He was modest in coachable, thrifty and frivolous, so that the people could live and work in peace and contentment, enrich the country and strengthen the people, expand the territory to the outside world, destroy East Turkistan and Xueyantuo, hit Koguryo hard, set up four towns in Anxi, and was honored as Tiankhan by people of all ethnic groups, and later became Kaiyuan in the heyday of the Tang Dynasty. Temple name Taizong, Taizong Xiaoguang, posthumous title Great Sage, buried in Zhaoling.
