We were classmates 70 years ago

In 1950, there were only two middle schools in Gaiping County (now Gaixian County), Liaoning Province. Our Gaiping Middle School is a complete middle school with junior and senior high schools. We still had a recommended system for admission, and we started taking entrance exams in 1951.

The school’s history:

The early years of the school’s establishment (1910-1923). According to the "Gaiping County Chronicle", after the imperial examination system was abolished in the 32nd year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1906), Chenzhou Academy in Gaiping County at that time was changed to Gaiping County Simple Normal School. In the second year of Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty (1910), the Simple Normal School was established There are two junior high school classes with 121 students, and the principal is Li Yuxiang (Juren). This is the beginning of the establishment of Gaiping County Middle School, which is the source of today's No. 1 Senior High School in Gaizhou City.

A tortuous and difficult development period. Since its establishment in 1910, Gaiping County Junior High School has always been attached to the County Simple Normal School. Due to the closure of the school, Gaiping County Junior High School was able to establish a separate school in February of the twelfth year of the Republic of China (1923).

In 1924, the Director of Education Yang Zhuochen (equivalent to the current Director of Education) and the principal of the middle school Sun Bairu proposed to the county at that time based on the actual situation that the school buildings were insufficient due to the increasing enrollment of junior middle schools at that time. Governor Shi Xiufeng asked for instructions to build a new school building. Shi Xiufeng then conducted an on-site inspection of the school, then asked Governor Mo for instructions and received approval. Construction of the new school building started in 1926. This is the two-story wooden building standing in the center of the school. In 1927, it included 24 buildings, 32 tile-roofed rooms, The new school buildings including 44 bungalows were all completed, and the school moved in in the same year, but the small wooden building still retains its style. In 1928, Shi Xiufeng even wrote a special inscription for this purpose.

The nearly century-old history of Gaizhou No. 1 High School has produced countless talents, including the famous calligrapher Mr. Shen Yanyi, the president of the China-Japan Friendship Association Mr. Sun Pinghua, the famous poet and essayist of Liaoning Province Mr. Lu Gongmei, and the earliest professor of the school. Martyr Luo Changwei (who was also the county magistrate), Martyr Mu Yue who spilled blood in Shanxi, Martyr Hua Xilu, the patriotic poet and writer, Mr. Chen Xiaobai, the first party branch secretary, two major generals Huo Guangyao and Song Xulun, Liu Jiguo and Chen Jining (currently The president of Tsinghua University) and others are all alumni of the school. Wang Haichuan and Wang Lina, the main players of the Chinese men's and women's volleyball teams, are both sports elites selected by the school's sports school.
