Tang Jian's personal profile

Tang Jian was born in Zhucheng, Shandong Province in 1965. He is a doctor of aesthetics, professor and doctoral supervisor. A doctoral supervisor in the field of flower-and-bird painting creation research at the China Academy of Art, a doctoral supervisor in the aesthetics of Chinese calligraphy and painting at Shandong University, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, and a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association. He is currently the director of the Exhibition and Performance Center of the China Academy of Art, a committee member and director of the Academy Office of the Chinese Academy of Painting, and a full-time painter. He is also a professor at China University of Political Science and Law, director of the Art and Law Research Center, and a visiting professor at the School of Arts of Shenzhen University.

Tang Jian studied under the famous scholar and calligrapher Mr. Jiang Weisong (Junzhai) for many years. Mr. Junzhai's noble character and profound knowledge had a particularly profound impact on him, and he also received the support of Yu Xining, Sun Qifeng, etc. Under the guidance of his teacher, he followed the path of literati painting since the Song and Yuan Dynasties in painting, the heartiness of Liang Kai, the unrestrained freedom of Xu Wei, the ethereal simplicity of Bada, the vigor and clumsiness of Wu Changshuo, and the simple taste of Qi Baishi. These are all his artistic pursuits.
