Zheng Xie (1693-1765), courtesy name Kerou, alias Banqiao, was born in Xinghua, Jiangsu (now Xinghua City). He once served as the county magistrate of Shandong. He is an upright person and does not care about the powerful. He is good at calligraphy and painting, and is good at painting orchids, bamboos, stones, etc. His painting method is based on the freehand brushwork of Xu Wei in the Ming Dynasty and Shi Tao in the Qing Dynasty.
