Listening from the trees outside Yushan Hall
—— Waves at the bottom of Mr. Chen Zhidong's pen
Qiu Luyan
In the early autumn afternoon, I strolled on the path to Yulei Mountain. Yulei Mountain is the last mountain where Minjiang River flows into Chengdu Plain. It is not high, but it locks the turbulent river and lets it pour into the plain in moderation! Yushantang is located on the side of Yulei Mountain, behind the Confucian Temple. If you look at it from the perspective of a geomancer, the four images here are in harmony, and the layout is rigorous, and it is a fairy land that lives at home!
Mr. Chen Zhidong, the owner of Yushan Hall, is a teacher I often visit. Every time I travel with the master, I can gain something in learning and art, so every time I ask about Yushan, I am particularly happy.
I've been thinking about the "past lives" of China's traditional humanities and arts, that is, how to make ancient paintings still move people's hearts in different times. China culture has encountered two great challenges in the past 1 years. First, the collapse of the Qing Dynasty brought about doubts and reflections on traditional culture. In this process, many scholars attributed the decline and sluggishness of China in modern times to culture, and even treated China culture in a completely negative way. The direct consequence of this negation is that Chinese people have a serious sense of self-pity for the whole Chinese civilization, so that we can't be "poor" today.
The more severe heckling is directed at the present, and I deeply feel the corrosive power of western culture. There are too few painters who can practice this awakening in painting, but Mr. Chen Zhidong's meticulous painting is like a morning bell ringing in our ears, perhaps because of his faint heart!
Mr. Chen Zhidong's meticulous painting intentionally melts the delicacy and exquisiteness of Song people's meticulous painting into the atmosphere of Han and Tang dynasties, and reconstructs meticulous painting with the pen and ink method of humanistic painting, so that it is full of humanistic visual regret.
Rhythm and sense of law, or the reason why all arts are touching. Mr. Chen Zhidong's meticulous painting often creates different physical structures with several styles and techniques. The lines of trees and branches are old and spicy Gu Zhuo, the lines of flowers are soft and light, and the lines of leaves are thick and stretched. When these lines of different textures are woven together, readers will feel the charm that is in line with the natural physical state, but it is not the natural physical state itself, which is a poetic expression.
On the other hand, Mr. Chen Zhidong's meticulous painting in color is more exquisite than others. It directly attacked the heavy color usage method restarted by sages such as Zhang Daqian and Yan Jiyuan, but Mr. Wang's heavy color usage changed the atmosphere created by predecessors, and his painting tone was more inclined to the literati painting system, which washed away all the lead, impetuousness and gaudiness of modern meticulous painting with his knowledge and cultivation.
When listening to the teacher's instruction in Yushantang, there is a breeze in Xu Lai, or there are good birds singing, which makes me feel a tacit understanding from the depths of humanity. There are also dead trees in the green hills from Yushantang. In the meantime, the ancients said, "Painting a mountain can't be without dead trees, otherwise it won't clear the air", but it is full of dead branches on the mountain of China literati and art, and the spiritual direction of humanities and art is either manic or old.
It's a very extravagant thing to be a hermit in the painting boat in July
It's indifferent to many temptations, that is, to be a hermit
Chen Zhidong, the painter: the studio is hidden under the pool
A Zen: the hermit's "seclusion" is mainly to be alone
As the only "double talents" of the great painters Chen Zizhuang and Yan Jiyuan, Chen Zhidong, who has been living in Sichuan for so many years, has lived in the foothills of Qingcheng Mountain for a long time, "thinking hard and hiding behind the painting". His life, as depicted in classic literati paintings, is light and full of freehand brushwork, which means that "the secular youth song is only for the castle peak".
Chen Zhidong began to learn painting in 1968, when he just turned 18 and studied painting with Mr. Chen Zizhuang. "After I went, Mr. Chen's lifestyle was a great attraction to me, and I realized that life could have been like this. I immediately gave up everything and began to learn painting." In 1974, I began to learn from another great painter, Yan Jiyuan. "Simply put, what influenced me and finally made me choose this lifestyle is' two people and three books'-two people, namely Chen Zizhuang and Yan Jiyuan; The three books are John Christopher, Silent Don and david copperfield. "
In a quiet community in Shaocheng, surrounded by bamboos, a small fence door is left unlocked. If you are waiting for a friend who is riding a donkey and bringing wine. Chen Zhidong's studio is so hidden that it is hidden in the basement under the pool in this yard! Although he is an influential painter, the "seclusion" of his life style is surprising. A famous joke in the circle is that once a big boss came to him with millions of cash and wanted to wrap up his showroom works at a time, he immediately sent him away ... "I like to' hide', which is more beneficial to my creation.
It's quite surprising that Chen Zhidong will go to Beijing for development. Is it necessary to break the habit of "hiding in Qingcheng Mountain" for many years? He explained that he needed a broader platform to display his artistic talents. "The highest state of' hidden' is that he can go out at the right time, but his life is really hidden." Chen Zhidong said.
