Zhang Shiming is the eldest grandson of Zhang Songxian, one of the four elephants in Nanxun, and the cousin of Zhang Jingjiang, a veteran of the Kuomintang. 1887, Zhang Shiming's father Zhang Baoqing died; 1892, his grandfather Zhang Songxian died; 1903, Zhang Junheng separated from his uncle (Zhang Jingjiang's father). After separation, Zhang Shiming inherited silk and salt industry, as well as Shanghai Shen Da Bank, Southeast Trust Company and some real estate. However, he does not run his own business, but is keen on collecting calligraphy and painting, epigraphy, inscriptions, strange stones and books (more than 100 thousand volumes). He is the founder and patron of Hangzhou Xiling Printing Society, and has close ties with Wu Changshuo, Mao Fuan and other literati and celebrities. 1894 (20th year of Guangxu), Zhang Shiming was still a candidate for the senior high school entrance examination.
After the separation, Zundetang, who lives in the ancestral home East Street, and his mother, Mrs. Gui Tai, bought Dong Shuo's old house and the old house in Nanxi Street, which is across the river from the Qitai sauce and salt shop in Zhangjia Industry, and built a bigger house. This mansion covers an area of 4,792 square meters, east-west, with 244 buildings of all kinds, with a building area of 6 1.37 square meters. It is famous for its large scale, exquisite carving and unique architectural style. In the west of Zhang's former residence, there is a 30-mu Comfortable Garden with a stele gallery inlaid with calligraphy works of many ancient celebrities. The World Expo was destroyed in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
After the completion of Zhang's former residence, he only lived here for a few years. After the Revolution of 1911, Zhang Shiming moved to Wuxi South Road 162 in Shanghai Central Concession, and only his mother, Mrs. Guitai, lived in Nanxun until 1922 died. It's basically empty since then. 200 1, Nanxun Zhang's former residence complex was listed as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.

His family was rescued only by sending a huge sum of money at the request of the kidnappers, but he was shot on the shoulder. But since then, Zhang Shiming has been depressed, suffered from heart disease and stroke, and died at the end of 1927 at the age of 56.
