Get out of the misunderstanding of hard pen calligraphy

Regarding whether it is necessary to practice regular script first, I will briefly talk about it here. In fact, there are similarities between regular script and running script, but there are also great differences. Regular script has the writing standard of regular script, and running script has the writing standard of running script, and the two cannot be confused. We can't think that writing regular script quickly is running script, and writing running script quickly becomes cursive script.

People often compare regular script to standing and running script to walking. Natural cursive is running, learn to stand first, and then learn to walk. There is some truth in this statement, and it also emphasizes the necessity of practicing the basic skills of writing. But people ignore that this basic skill has two meanings: one is the ability to control strokes, and the other is the ability to understand various calligraphy styles and grasp the characteristics of strokes. Therefore, under the condition of mastering the basic strokes of Chinese characters, we can practice running script directly for practical writing. Because when practicing running script, you can also train your pen control ability. Because the standard of regular script is different from that of running script, we often see some people who write neatly, but once they write running script, they will be confused, and if they write quickly, they will become "ghost symbols". This is because they didn't write according to the standards of different scripts. This is why many calligraphers in history are good at regular script, running script and cursive script.

It can be seen that as a hard pen calligraphy, you can practice what kind of calligraphy you are interested in, because a hard pen is not as difficult to control as a soft pen. As a practical calligraphy practice, we can and must start with calligraphy practice. Of course, practicing various fonts can find some special feelings and experiences, which is helpful for you to practice any font. In addition, especially the strokes and strokes written by some people are very neat, and strictly speaking, they are not real regular script. The writing standard of Chinese characters is the crystallization of calligraphers' writing practice for thousands of years, and it is a writing method recognized and established by calligraphers in past dynasties. There may be many different ways to write the same word, that is, there are different writing norms. Such as truth, line, official script, grass and seal script, each has its own specific writing norms. It is the same style of the same word, and the writing is different, each with its own style.

The writing style of Chinese characters is the writer's personality when writing Chinese characters. A word or a painting, whether in strokes, structure or composition, will make this (painting) show different styles. However, no matter what style it is, it must conform to the traditional writing norms, so people recognize it. To practice Chinese characters, we must first master the basic writing norms of Chinese characters, and do not require the unification of styles. Everyone's writing style has a complicated process, and some people can even write several different styles. For beginners, it is best not to pay attention to strong personal style, but to strictly demand the basic norms of writing. When your handwriting is standardized, your aesthetic awareness of words will be improved, and then you will pursue your personal style. Style is mostly formed naturally.
