Before I became a judge, I majored in law at university, but my biggest hobby was calligraphy.
While gnawing at legal theory, while doing professional papers, calligraphy works frequently appear in various exhibitions, and calligraphy activities are in full swing, so I became an active and romantic campus "calligrapher" and became famous in the university campus.
When I became a judge after graduation, I gradually realized that judges are actually the most difficult officials in the world. The 5,000-year-old Chinese civilization requires judges to be impartial, honest and compassionate. However, the complexity of the world, the unpredictability of people's hearts and the variety of things are difficult for even God to grasp. How can mortals know everything, see through everything and do justice? When trying a case, if you are not careful, you may hurt the innocent or let the culprit go unpunished. No wonder the late lennert Hand, a famous American jurist, listened to the lawsuit all his life and achieved remarkable results, which won people's admiration. But in the end, he admitted that he was more afraid of litigation than death and taxes. Because of this, as a judge, calligraphy has become more and more important. Half of my creation is to vent my professional confusion, and the other half is out of love for life.
I compare law to my wife and calligraphy to my lover. My wife is the person I have been accompanying and caring for all my life, and my lover is the one who lets me vent my passion and inspire me. Daily investigation and evidence collection, interrogation, gnawing at the law, writing documents, meticulous, not afraid of blasphemy, can be described as loyal to his wife. However, once I have a little leisure time, I can't help meeting my lover. Every time I burn incense and wash my face, I grind a inkstone and black ink. Facing the classic masterpieces of ancient sages, I forgot both things and things. That detached state makes me want to pull it out. If you stay with your wife for a long time, you want to love her. If you date your lover for a long time, you are afraid of cheating on your wife. I really regret that I shouldn't have met this lover at the beginning, and I'm glad that there is someone around me who listens to me. Because of my stubbornness and whimsy, I always feel that there will be a time when both are taken into account, but the law depends on real logical thinking, and calligraphy depends on obscure, realistic and ethereal artistic feelings, and the perfect combination of the two has become my lifelong pursuit.
The basis of law is rationality, but cold rationality can be reconciled only by the warmth of feelings. The law gives people the impression that it is monolithic and uncompromising. However, in the process of applying the law, it is full of wit and the inspiration of judges. This is closely related to calligraphy which regards inspiration as life. Maybe this is where the two meet. When I find the point of convergence between the two, I will unswervingly pursue the harmony, unity and complementarity of reason and sensibility.
