Shimeiyuan inscription

During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, a stone tablet was found when the mountain was cut into ruins, weeds and rock slopes. This monument of Changshu people's resistance to foreign aggression stands in the "Anti-Japanese Pavilion" under the "Moxiang Pavilion". Professor Su of East China Normal University inscribed the plaque of "Anti-Japanese Pavilion", and Wu Mu, a painter of Wumen, based on the natural boulder at the northern end, poured large reinforced concrete columns at the southern end to support the whole building. The "Shilou" plaque was inscribed by the painter and cultural relic appraiser Xie. Downstairs, natural boulders are used as walls, and seven valleys are dug in the stones to divert water, forming a stream, which symbolizes the "Qili Qinchuan" in Changshu, the ancient city. Wei, the former secretary of the East China Bureau, inscribed it as "Qinchuan Hall". On the west side between Yunhui Building and Panshi Building, there is a two-story pavilion inscribed by the painter Fu, in addition to connecting up and down with wooden stairs and corridors. Classical wooden corridor twists and turns, up and down, left and right coherent, so that tourists have shade in sunny days, no umbrella in rainy days, and their feet are not wet. The hanging of the promenade and the plaque were inscribed by He Pan respectively.

In addition to guest houses, walls and corridors, the second phase of the project is mainly a large plane building complex south of Qinchuan Hall. It used to be the "pillow stone porch" and the "one heart road" teahouse. After clearing out the old house, we built a teahouse, dining room, facade room, barber shop, canteen and gateball court, dug a pond, built a "Yishou Bridge" and a waterside pavilion, and finally built a fence and Shikumen. The plaque hanging in the teahouse was written by Wang Xuezhong, a painter and aesthetic theorist. The teahouse, dining room, waterside pavilion, gate and nearby fence were all designed and built by Ge Gensheng, a 72-year-old famous sculpture artist in Dong Bang. He is ingenious, using cement and lime to shape the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, each showing his magical powers. Jiang Taigong rides four unlike others, Zhao Xuantan forgives them, and the three lions roll hydrangeas and hundred horses are vivid and impressive. Shisanmei Garden covers an area of 7,366 square meters (nearly 12 mu), with a building area of 2,885 square meters, an existing green area of 3,623 square meters and a green coverage rate of 70%. There are 4 large and small ponds, about140m2, with a site area of 950m2. The whole park runs along the mountain, chiseling stones through the diameter, with ingenious layout, majestic momentum and simple elegance. The park has rugged rocks, beautiful flowers and trees, pavilions, Ming and Qing styles, different shapes and patchwork. From south to north, looking up, layer upon layer; The gallery twists and turns from bottom to top, winding and secluded, with endless artistic conception, and there is a feeling of "I don't know the height step by step, but I will know it when I get close".

After the Shimei Garden was first built, a group of famous painters and calligraphers splashed ink with inscriptions to add color to the garden. Han Peixin, then secretary of jiangsu provincial party committee, inscribed the garden name "Shimeiyuan" and published it as "Shimeiyuan"; Jiang, then a member of the Central Advisory Committee, wrote an inscription at the gate of the garden, "Home of Old Comrades".
